Perhaps we should be asking ourselves another question. And that is where do we go from here?

John McCain is totally repugnant to me as a candidate and I will not vote for him. I feel like Ann Coulter. I don't want my party to bear the responsibility of his socialistic agenda. And, even though I belong to the same church as Mitt, I am not in favor of his being President. He has logged too much time on the liberal side of too many issues. He needs to spend some time in the conservative trenches in order to gain my trust.

So, if we can't have Duncan, or even Ron, then what do we do? As I see it we have two choices. We either attempt to retake the Republican Party, along with all its baggage, but also with all of its fellow travelers, or we cease trying to put new wine in old bottles and join another political party, such as the Constitution Party, which is the third largest party in the country in terms of registered voters. Granted it has few fellow travelers but it has virtually no baggage either.

If nothing else, a third party just might drag the GOP back to the right side of the road in order to hold onto a sizable number of its fellow travelers. But it would have to pose a threat when it came to elections.

I asked a friend of mine why he had left the Republican Party and he replied thusly: "I feel like Al Smith felt when he changed parties. I haven't left the Republican Party, it has left me. My principles have not changed, its principles have."

I would be interested to hear others thoughts on what our future course of action should be.

It is pretty pathetic to post articles from a "pay site" without permission. It really diminishes the value and privilege of being on this site. Technically, it is theft.
Whoever did it really showed poor judgment. I know that it is scintillating stuff, but to post recent articles without permission is disrespectful to Jack and gives no incentive for folks on Free Republic or any other board to pay for the privilege to join our august group.

No wonder the drive-by media is pushing McCain's candadicy so hard, as his sellout of conservative principles wasn't enough.

on FreeRepublic.com, and FreeRepublic.com has done so.
