I had contemporaneous info to the effect that he entered a top level security meeting before he went to Nam, at the invitation of his father, against the advice of Intelligence.

An Admiral, more than most, to adhere to the security of information that perhaps no one else is privy to, and to set example, should not break the Code of Conduct, giving information only on the basis of a "need to know, " but John could have retrieved the situation.

Did he not because he wanted the privilege of knowing more than those of his rank or about his upcoming situation? [selfish or self-preserving?] Because he did not want to disappoint his father by refusing his offer, thereby shortening his visit time with him as well? [neither disciplined selves in the interest of the security of untold numbers as trained, ...because they both were arrogant, considering themselves above the law?] or were there other factors to include?

No matter all of the above, this information was put out in some form by John McCain and others.

It is people who choose their leaders, and it is sad to see that some chosen politicians have not reflected well on many of us. Let our consciences be out guides, [b][free/b] from coercion and manipulative inducements, as our President has continually encouraged and make education of an informed electorate by freely disseminated information a high priority, not such nonsense as "we're tired of the war," anymore than "We're tired of murder, so let's not bother attempting to reduce it."

McCain is about to find out that the NY Times will always side with the socialist democrat, rather than the socialist-leaning Republican. McCain not only screwed the Republican party with McCain-Feingold, he deluded himself into believing the leftist rag was going to support him over the dems. McCain left himself in a real pickle, with no real conservatives really wanting to help him. Johnny Boy, what goes around comes around. By the time that leftist rag is done with you, you won't be able to hold any elected position. It couldn't happen to a more deserving politician.

It's starting to look a lot like "How the Clintons would_have_liked to destroy McCain". Texas is looking bleak. It would have taken a landslide win, but its looking more like a slight loss to Obama. He wowed her last remaining supporters at the debate.

As for this odd prediction I keep making that there is a 40 percent chance McCain will not be the GOP nominee: it is a hunch, a feeling that McCain will not make it to the finish line. He does not connect well with people, other than the dozen media flunkies he constantly sucks up to.

Something is going to happen to derail him. A revelation, an event, an unintended circumstance.

America does not elect someone who is at the end of their rope. And McCain is a spent force. Few are for him; his votes will just be anti-Obama or anti-Hillary. There is no enthusiasm for McCain, except among inside-the beltway lobbyists and media types.

So, while he is the presumptive nominee as of now, there are five long months to go.

Don’t be surprised when something happens and McCain is gone — pfffft.

I can't envision any of them making it to the swear-in. Whoever it is will go down as even more hated than Bush. People think they have it bad now, half of them hating Bush for no reason, or a fake reason, just wait about a year.
