This thread discusses the Content article: WHAT WE CAN LEARN FROM MEN IN BLACK ABOUT 2008
Well stated---We shall persevere..... and win!
One note about Iowa. Iowa is notoriously a peace state. The Ghost of Henry Wallace lives in Iowa. He was FDR's VP who was also anti-war during WWII. He was a highly loved Iowan who spawned the anti-war, McGovernite wing of the Dem Party.
Hilary, who voted for the war before she spouted off against it, was a dead duck in Iowa. She is in a huge trap and how she performs in the coming weeks will give us a great insight into her strategy in November.
Romney ran into a buzzsaw with all the Evangelicals, Pentacosts, and Charismatics in Iowa.
Rudy was very smart ot avoid Iowa.
Stay tuned, folks ......

My ancestors helped populate Iowa, pre- and post-Civil War, east to west across the state. Among them were some who moved in the 1850's from Pennsylvania to eastern Iowa with a family named Hoover, from whom came Herbert Hoover.
My ancestry includes fighting, Civil War thru WWII, delivering the mail, running the Bell Telephone Company, building houses, victory gardens & terribly bland meals with lots of Velveeta cheese.

The Huckabee victory exposes the achilles heel of the Republicans.
Wasn't W Bush essentially a Christian Socialist? He was tough on Islamofachism but weak everywhere else - including the border. We had to shove Judge Roberts down his throat after he nominated a nice Christian liberal church lady to the Supreme Court. The only way he could be more Christian is if he had been a preacher.
Huckabee is another Christian Socialist - but even worse because he is a preacher. His moral decrees will be ordained not by a Liberal think tank, but by his Liberal version of God.
The two front runners are a liberal Mormon Bishop and a Socialist Baptist preacher! Never mind the conservative cross-dressing of the moment - look at what they actually did when they had the power. They are merely Conservatives of Convenience - and that is as morally reprehensible as a marriage of convenience.
Is Christianity what America is all about, or is Freedom? Are Republicans Christians first, and thus willing to throw Freedom under the bus and vote in a Socialist Preacher? Would America become a bipartisan Liberal Christian theocracy?
Therein lies the possibly fatal flaw in the Republican party.
There is only one real Conservative and he happens to be a real Christian as well - but not a Preacher, not a Bishop, not a pious Leftist illusion. People need to think whether they want real gold or just the fool's gold of a televangelist.

Well said, tbs3! Can anyone come up with the equivalent of "RINO" for these RINOs who are also Christians in Name Only? "CINO" doesn't grab folks the way "RINO" does.
How can these Socialists ever understand the concept of "Thou shall not steal"? If the succinct, pointed words of our Creator himself have not yet registered with them, our words aren't likely to do the trick! Our only recourse is to work our butts off this election season to defend ourselves against their intended ravages.

Reality predicts that we're going to end up with at best far and frustratingly less than glittering perfection in the White House next year, and quite possibly something truly awful.
Yep, even my candidate of choice is far from perfect, as my fellow TTP'ers are quick to remind me!
But no matter what happens, we and America will get through it. Trust me on this. Trust America on this.
There's getting through a crisis gracefully, and getting through a crisis with minimum pain. Needless to say, I prefer the former!
Iowans deal what may be a mortal blow to an evil witch and pump up a Preacher Boy Socialist at the same time.
A truly insightful bon mot, Dr. Jack!
The battle will never be over. The liberals, the fascists of the left, the forces of darkness, will never give up trying to pick our pockets, seize our freedoms, and diminish our humanity.
AMEN! That means we need to keepTTP around for a long, long time!

I loved the “Men in Black” analogy.
There are always enemies and there are always solutions.
My family has survived centuries on both the good
and the bad sides of all the famous wars and conflicts.
The survivability has at its roots in an abiding and healthy
Skepticism, and discernment, amidst prayers for wisdom.
The clear lesson over time has been;
When others cheer for the light at the end of the tunnel…
Best consider it a freight train and you will never be unprepared.

While there are some Christians who fall for the "fools' gold," not all do! Many are freedom-loving, patriotic Americans! After all, there would be/will be no freedom of religion without the freedom. I think many Christians react positively to anything/anyone "Christian" because they've are on the defensive with Christianity being under attack, especially in the MSM.
That said, we are electing a leader for our country and not a spiritual leader. I agree that a big part of his/her job is to preserve our precious freedom!

Jack,
Should have known you were from Iowa. I salute you and the other correspondent whose family helped settle Iowa. So did mine. I have photos of great-great grand parents: Joneses, Farquhars, Marshes and others who built bridges, farmed, settled small towns, fought in the Civil and other Wars, practiced medicine & law, and even migrated to New York where they became prominent in tourism. And I have photos of some of their graves. But I know the dark side of Iowa too, the Henry Wallaces. So, sad to say, they hand us the Incredible Huck and the Obamination, but at least they seriously damaged a super-phony whose only claim to substance is what fills out her pants suits in the wrong places.
I look forward to more on these subjects.
Barney
