OUR KIND OF ATTORNEY GENERAL

The current Attorney General for the State of Florida is Bill McCollum.  After being a Congressman representing Florida's 5th District for 20 years, he ran for Senate in 2004 only to be screwed by Karl Rove, who wanted Bush's buddy Mel Martinez.

Thus we have the pro-illegal alien Martinez in the Senate - but at least Florida lucked out to have McCollum bounce back to be elected its AG last year.  How lucky can be seen by a letter McCollum wrote this week (12/03) in his official capacity to the president of the University of Florida.

American universities are today dominated by professors and administrators who viciously attack any attempt at giving their students a pro-America education.    Finally, here is one state attorney general who has the guts to legally prosecute such viciousness.  America needs more Bill McCollums.

Here is his letter:

HOW TO FAX FROM YOUR PC

You call your attorney to ask her to review a contract, and she says, "Sure. Fax it over." "But it's a Microsoft Word document," you say. "Can't I just e-mail it to you? I don't have a fax machine." No, she prefers fax. Or, she says, if you'd rather, you can drop it in the mailbox or drive it over. Grrr!

But wait! You probably do have a fax machine and don't even realize it. It's right in your PC. You may have forgotten this if you've moved to broadband, but most computers still ship with fax modems. And Microsoft Windows XP includes fax software, although you may not have realized that either, since it's not part of the default installation. Fortunately, installing it is pretty painless.

Here's how to enable fax services.

Chapter Seven: QUETZACOATL

Chapter Seven: QUETZACOATL

Don Alonso was unlike any of her previous masters. True she had never been abused or raped either by her Xicalanca captors or the rulers of Pontochan. But Don Alonso exhibited a courtesy to her, treated her with a dignity, that the others had not. Was it because he recognized her royal birth, or did he and the other Spaniards treat women differently in general?

To her Pontochan masters, she didn’t really exist in a certain way. She had been invisible to them - an invisibility Malinali strove consciously to maintain. She did all she could to hide her beauty, for example. She didn’t walk straight, tall, and proudly - she compressed herself and slunk around the palace doing her chores.

She decided to abandon this shrunken invisibility with the Spaniards. She no longer wore her cloak over her head. Her bountiful long black hair was now free to glisten in the sun. She carried herself as her father taught, tall and proud, head high. She was never insolent and obediently did as she was asked without resentment. She could do this because Don Alonso always made requests of her, not dismissive demands. He treated her as an individual person, not an invisible non-entity.

Now being so clearly visible, Don Alonso could not help noticing Malinali’s beauty.

RULES ARE NOT LAWS: WHAT 2016 SHOULD BE ABOUT

The power to make laws rests wholly in Congress - at least that is what the Constitution says.  Yet who makes the "laws" in our federal system today?

Vast amounts of legislative power have been "delegated" to independent federal regulatory agencies like the Federal Communications Commission or to the president or his cabinet secretaries.

The sheer volume of these rules is mind-numbing.  Consider that in 2014, the year that just ended, 75,000 pages of new regulations were adopted by the Executive Branch, either by the Obama administration directly or through independent regulatory agencies.

This is in addition to the myriad executive orders the president gives to his various departments regarding how to administrate federal laws.

The imagined need for these rules is that congressional legislation cannot anticipate every situation or change that requires new regulations.  That is true, of course, only if we accept the underlying premise that the federal government ought to be directly involved in almost everything we do.

Abolishing the completely illegal and unconsitutional scam of legislative delegation to unelected bureaucracies should be a major GOP campaign theme in 2016.

HALF-FULL REPORT 01/02/15

A brand new year.  Is it time for predictions?  OK, here's one you can count on.  There will be a whiteness of Black Swans.

Yes, a "whiteness" is the collective noun for swans, even when they are black (the subspecies Cygnus atratus in Australia).  These days, a capitalized "Black Swan" refers not to a bird but an event - something that comes sailing into history right out of the blue and bites us right in the tuches.

The worst, most negative Black Swan in modern American history continues in 2015 - the Zero Presidency.  Interestingly, the Curse of Zero will test my next prediction:  that whatever and how many Black Swans bite the world this year, America will sustain them - even triumph over them - better than anywhere else.

Now why would that be?...

It's also time to introduce a new feature in the HFR.  Most every week, I'll try to include a useful tip on health & fitness.  None of us are getting progressively younger, but we can all do any number of things to slow our progress down in the opposite direction.  Here's the HFR's first entry...

We're going to close with... Perspective Time.  Just to make you feel good.

YET ANOTHER OBAMA GRASP FOR MORE GOVERNMENT POWER

Whom do you work for? Such a simple question should not require a government agency to give an answer.

However, the Obama administration, in its never-ending quest for power over individuals and businesses, has decided that it -- rather than you or your employer -- should determine whom you work for.

Last Thursday (11/20), the Senate held a hearing for President Obama's nominee for the National Labor Relations Board, Lauren McFerran, after the administration abruptly withdrew the nomination of the tainted Sharon Block for the same post.

The National Labor Relations Board has the responsibility to be an unbiased referee in disputes between labor unions and management and to make sure that U.S. labor regulations are followed. As union membership has fallen from more than a third of the labor force in the 1950s to a 97-year low of 6.7 percent of the private labor force this year, the NLRB is not as relevant as it was in decades past.

However, like most government bureaucracies, the people at the board are looking for ways to expand their mission -- and their budget and power. The Obama administration, rather than seeking out people who would be impartial to serve on the board, has selected people with strong ties to unions.  There is no doubt whatever that Lauren McFerran is one of them.

POLITICIANS NEED AN “OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY ADDICTS ANONYMOUS” PROGRAM

[This speech was delivered by Australian Senator David Leyonhjelm on the floor of the Australian Senate Chamber in Canberra on Tuesday, September 23]

My name is David and I am an OPM addict.

Actually, that is not true; I am not addicted. I might be one of the very few people in this house who is not, because addiction to OPM is a national crisis and I am surrounded by addicts.

I am not talking about the drug opium but something far more terrible. I am talking about an addiction to other people's money.

Spending other people's money on other people is what we do here. It is the worst kind of expenditure and it explains why so much public money is wasted.

An inevitable characteristic of OPM is that so many grand government plans are destined for failure. Before we can do something about our addiction to OPM, we must first acknowledge our problem. What we need is an OPM Addicts Anonymous.

Many government programs are not created because people demand them or because the market was unable to provide the services but because politicians have bought favor with OPM. Politicians are addicted to OPM because they use it to expand their influence, reward political cronies and keep their constituencies dependent on them.

The time has come to admit:  Politicians pretending to be compassionate, when all they are doing is handing out other people's money, are just thieves masquerading as angels.

FRACKING IS THE FUTURE

Twenty-three years ago this Sunday, August 24, 1991, Ukraine - by a vote of its Parliament of 321-2 - seceded from the Soviet Union and declared its independence.

Russian fascist imperialists have been desperately trying to reconquer it ever since, from massive bribes to Ukrainian politicians to be pro-Russia, to KGB destabilization of Ukraine's government, to KGB poisoning of Orange Revolution leader Viktor Yushchenko, to holding it hostage to Gazprom gas, to Putin's seizure of Crimea and attempt to seize all of eastern Ukraine.

Putin's frantic aggression in Ukraine is not based entirely on a revanchist desire to recapitulate the USSR.  It turns out there's a lot of frackable shale gas in Ukraine's east - over 140 trillion cubic feet (tcf) in the Yazivska field alone right near where Putin's agents shot down MH17.

The economy of Russia is an upside-down pyramid balanced not on its base but on its tip of Gazprom gas sales to Europe.  Should European countries start to frack their own reserves, Gazprom dies and Russia with it.

Thus Putin has been bribing every EU bureaucrat, politician, journalist and enviroweenie he can to protest against, denounce in the news, and pass laws to ban fracking.  It has worked marvelously - until now.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DREAM THERE HAS EVER BEEN

On October 28, 2001, as America was trying to cope with the shock of September 11, Game 2 of the World Series  began with Ray Charles singing America the Beautiful for 50,000 attending the game and millions via television.  To this day, it's hard to watch without tears pouring down your face:

America is the most beautiful dream there has ever been.  On this Thanksgiving Day, let's reflect on why, and what has happened to it.

WHAT IS THE REPUTATION YOU’D LIKE TO EARN WITH YOURSELF?

When you get to know people, you are, in part, building a reputation with each other. "What kind of person is he?" "How does she handle a difficult situation?" "What kind of attitude does he bring to his work?" "How does she respond to confrontation or adversity?"

Over time, we learn whether a given person is honest, whether they can be relied upon, how playful they are, to what degree their actions reflect what they say. We get a sense of their style, their likes, and their dislikes.

Here is a piece that is often missing: We watch ourselves just like we watch others, and we develop a reputation with ourselves accordingly.

This is the essence of earned self-esteem.  Here's how to increase yours.

REMEMBERING RONALD REAGAN

Earlier this month, I was honored to give the keynote speech at the Ronald Reagan Annual Dinner in northern Virginia.

I told stories about the Gipper, reminisced about my experiences with him, and talked about what it was like to help get rid of the Soviet Union.  Then we discussed the consequences of America's electing his moral and political opposite.

The speech was recorded, sans the intro, and I'd like to share it with you.  I hope you enjoy it.  God Bless Ronald Reagan.

CLASSICAL FASCIST CHINA

Even though they still call themselves communists, and the Communist Party rules the country, classical fascism should be the starting point for our efforts to understand the People's Republic.

We are certainly not dealing with a Communist regime, either politically or economically.  Chinese leaders are keeping a firm grip on political power while permitting relatively free areas of economic enterprise. Their political methods are quite like those used by the European fascists 80 years ago.

The short history of classical fascism suggests that it is only a matter of time before China will pursue confrontation with the West. That is built into the DNA of all such regimes. Sooner or later, Chinese leaders will feel compelled to demonstrate the superiority of their system, and even the most impressive per capita GDP will not do.

It follows that the West must prepare for war with China, hoping thereby to deter it. A great Roman once said that if you want peace, prepare for war:  Si vis pacem, para bellum. This is sound advice with regard to a fascist Chinese state that wants to play a global role.

PRO-COMMUNIST CONSERVATIVES?

This Tuesday, November 27, a weird full-page ad appeared in The Washington Times directly targeting conservatives.  Its headline in big bold print:  U.S.-Russia:  Toward a political, economic and military alliance.

It was paid for by an outfit called america-russia.net.  It's not clear if these folks are on the KGB payroll, but they might as well be.

They seem to be the same group of Blame America First Conservatives I wrote about back in July of '05:  the folks at American Conservative and antiwar.com infected with the disease of Anti-Semitism, who hate Israel more than they love America, who root for America's defeat in Iraq.

Now they're rooting for the KGB Billionaire Mafia that runs Russia.

Last February, you learned that Putin is The World's Richest and Most Dangerous Gangster, the most corrupt ruler in world history, having accumulated a personal fortune of over 20 billion dollars - and control over thousands of nukes.

You also learned that Bush and Cheney were contemplating exposing Putin's billionaire corruption.  There's been a lot of debate in the White House about this, but it looks like the first salvo has finally been fired.

BUGGED BY WEB BUGS

I signed up several months ago for a service which gave me free delivery on some products (value $10), knowing I would get a weekly e-mail from the business.

I never got around to reading those weekly messages, and they began to pile up in my e-mail box. After a few months, I got a message from the company with this title: "Dennis - Are you missing out on a good thing?"

No, sir or ma'am, I am not - or at least I didn't plan to. I opened the message and read the following: "Dear Dennis: We've noticed that you haven't been opening our weekly emails. We don't want to impose, so we've decided to stop sending them to you."

Huh? This was unbelievable! Not that they were considerate enough to stop spamming me (although that is pretty unbelievable in itself!); it was the first sentence that threw me.

How, pray tell, would they know whether or not I opened their message? How could they?

Through the use of "Web bugs," that's how.
