A BAD NIGHT FOR DEMS

President Trump’s  on Tuesday (2/05) was easily the best State of the Union address I’ve ever seen – and I watched all of Ronald Reagan’s.

But, as you can see, it wasn’t a good night for Bernie Sanders, Ms. Occasional Cortex, and all the other Dems including Pelosi who grimaced and refused to stand.

A SOTU is a speechwriter’s nightmare. It consists of a laundry list of the president’s (alleged) accomplishments, followed by wish list of the bills the president wants Congress to pass. It’s hard to weave a coherent, uplifting theme into that mishmash.

And SOTUs are too long. They last, typically, an hour or so. One of the first rules of the thumb I learned as a fledgling speechwriter was nobody is interesting after 20 minutes.

There are exceptions to every rule. President Trump spoke for 82 minutes, the longest SOTU since Bill Clinton spoke for 84 minutes in 2000. Clinton’s SOTU that year was excruciating. But, for me, time flew by Tuesday night.

DONALD TRUMP’S ANNIHILATION OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY

whos-opposed-to-the-wall The nadir of the amoral egotism of what might broadly be called “Me-ism” has been reached by the avant garde of the Democrat Party in their race to the bottom of the electoral depths.

The renunciation of any notions of sacrifice, patriotic pride, the spirituality of life, or the recognition of anything except the smash-and-grab politics of endless atomized grievances and instant gratification of convenience, has reached what must, in its way, be the end of its history.

As the party of infanticide and open borders, they are indulging in a frenzy of primal extremism from which they will not recover.

TRUMP SHOWS HE’S PLAYING TO WIN

play-to-winThere were laughter, tears, raucous cheers and awkward silences. But more than anything else, it was a punch in the gut that President Trump delivered Tuesday night.

Time after time, on issue after issue, he laid down a marker about the remaining two years of his term — and the outlines of his re-election campaign.

Speeches that are too long — as this one was — often smother their key points in windy verbiage. But there was no mistaking Trump’s meaning or his intent to seek a second term on the platform of a strong economy, strong defense and secure borders.

The state of the union is frighteningly divided and hostile, but the state of the president’s aim is sound. For all the talk of chaos and churn in his administration, Donald Trump knows what he’s about. As he always has, he’s playing to win.

WISDOM AND FOOLISHNESS, CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way…”
These are the first words of Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities.  They refer to the era of the French Revolution a little over two centuries ago, but they could equally apply to today.

Times have never been better for most Americans. Incomes are at a record high. Jobs are plentiful. People are living longer and better due to both medical advances and increased prosperity.

Yet despite the better life that the free-market capitalist system has enabled for billions of people, there are increased numbers of political voices and their media allies demanding socialism. Given the centuries of failure and mayhem resulting from socialism, for all to see, the new socialists are treated as if their ideas are sensible, rather than ludicrous.

Why would people choose foolishness over wisdom?  Are they stupid, ignorant, mean-spirited, or all three?

HALF-FULL REPORT 02/01/19

How cold is it?  It’s so cold that, the New York Post joked about “AOC “(Alexandria Occasional-Cortex)  on its cover yesterday (1/31):

aoc-in-her-pockets It’s so cold that this morning’s headline (2/01) is for real:  Lake Michigan Has Completely Frozen Over.

Nonetheless, Occasional-Cortex and her Fascicrat ilk went bananas in rage (is there any other emotion they feel?) when POTUS made fun of their religion:

trump-tweet-012819 Yet their demented Warmist fanaticism is merely one path of many in their descent into madness this week, in which Democrats have become a party of Psychotic Fascism.  No longer a political party but a criminally evil gang bereft of any morality, just thuggish hate and lust for fascist power.

The question of the moment then becomes:  What will the President do about this in his State of the Union Address four days from now this Tuesday (2/05)?

THE ROUTE TO EVEREST

Ngozumpa Glacier – Khumbu Himalaya ©2019 Jack Wheeler
Ngozumpa Glacier – Khumbu Himalaya ©2019 Jack Wheeler

Everyone has heard of the Himalayas and Mount Everest in particular. Yet most everyone has only a vague understanding of the most famous and highest mountain range on earth, and where the great mountains among them are in relation to each other.

Over the next three weeks, your understanding will become clear, no longer vague. This week, we’ll explore the route to Everest.

The Himalayas form a 1,500 mile-long arc from Namche Barwa in Chinese Tibet in the east to Nanga Parbat in Pakistan in the west.  But it is in the center of the arc, in Nepal that the great Himalayan giants are found, including Mount Everest.

Four of the highest – Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu – on the border with Chinese Tibet. Thus, you can trek to or climb them from either the Nepali (south) or Tibetan (north) side.

This week, we’ll explore the route to Everest and its sister peak of Lhotse via Cho Oyu in Nepal. From Cho Oyu flows the largest glacier in the Nepali Himalayas, the giant Ngozumpa Glacier which has a series of beautiful lakes, the Gokyo Lakes, alongside. That’s what you see in the photo above.

Looking to your right, you see the fifth Gokyo Lake and the source of the Ngozumpa, the 6th highest mountain on earth at 8,201 meters, Cho Oyu, the Turquoise Goddess in Tibetan. Up close, the sight is overwhelming.

BANKRUPTING THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA

trump-tweet-012819 Does the “news” depress you? Need something to cheer you up? Read mea culpa, mea maxima culpa, please don’t hurt me any more “correction” from the London Telegraph on January 26:  Melania Trump – An Apology.

We apologize unreservedly to The First Lady and her family for any embarrassment caused by our publication of these allegations.  As a mark of our regret we have agreed to pay Mrs. Trump substantial damages as well as her legal costs.”
Not only is Melania Trump the most beautiful and sophisticated First Lady ever, she has a backbone of tempered steel. Smear her, and you’ll pay a price.

Actually, the entire Fake News Media is paying a price. The most underreported news last week was that more than a thousand “journalists” – chiefly at Politico, Buzzfeed, and Gannett – lost their jobs.

Fake Newsers are being fired or are about to be bankrupted out of business.  Here’s how.

SO MUCH HAS CHANGED FOR THE BETTER THANKS TO PRESIDENT TRUMP

thanks-to-trumpNot that President Trump will get any credit.

The news obsesses over the recent government shutdown, the latest Robert Mueller arrest, and, of course, fake news — from the BuzzFeed Michael Cohen non-story to the smears of the Covington Catholic High School students.

But aside from the weekly hysterias, the world has dramatically changed since 2016 in ways we scarcely have appreciated.

The idea that China systematically rigged trade laws and engaged in technological espionage to run up huge deficits is no longer a Trump, or even a partisan, issue.

The world did not fall apart after the U.S. pulled out of the flawed Iran nuclear deal. Most yawned when the U.S. left the symbolic but empty Paris Climate Accord. Ditto when the U.S. moved its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In retrospect, most Americans accept that such once-controversial decisions were not ever all that controversial.

THE DEVIL HAS THE PEOPLE BY THE THROAT AND WEARS A PUSSY HAT ON HIS HORNS

Of the many memorable scenes and sequences from the film, “Casablanca¸” one that stands out for both its subtlety and its continuing resonance comes when the Bulgarian Bride—her name is Annina Brandel in the script—sits down with Rick Blaine (Bogart) and asks for some very important advice. Watch the scene above first before we discuss it.

It’s a quandary to which we can all relate. One of her lines of dialogue, however, has an especially timely meaning: “The Devil has the people by the throat.”

In the context of the film, the Devil is Hitler and the Nazis; the Brandels were lucky to escape with their lives. Today, the Devil is much closer to home – right here in America, wearing a pink pussy hat on his horns.

IT’S TIME TO GET REAL ABOUT OUR ENEMIES

who-theyre-afterFascism and Communism—those tragic sisters from the 1900s that led to the greatest human suffering, poverty, and mass starvation in human history—should barely be remembered today.

Instead, they are ascendant in the Democrat Party. Cultural Marxism and fascist socialism are the new Democrat chic. The entire country is in an uproar. Everyone feels a sense of doom and gloom.

Conservative pundits have latched onto the fun words “hysteria” and “Trump derangement syndrome.” These words, though cute, mask the seriousness of what is actually happening.  The Democrat Party has become the enemy of America and all it stands for.  It’s time to get real about this.

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO PUT AN END TO THIS, MR. PRESIDENT?

Robert Mueller
Robert Mueller

After news broke of Robert Mueller’s pre-dawn raid on Roger Stone's home Friday morning in Florida by twenty-nine heavily-armed agents in nineteen vehicles, lights flashing, CNN serendipitously on hand to film the raid, millions of us realized once and for all that we are no longer living in the America we knew and loved.

Mueller was appointed to conceal and obliterate the volumes of evidence of crimes committed by Hillary Clinton; her campaign; and a group of higher-ups in the FBI, DOJ, and CIA, all of whom were involved in a scheme to prevent Trump from being elected.

Mueller’s pure Gestapo tactics make it catastrophically clear that America is no longer a constitutional republic, a nation of laws and justice.  An unelected, tangential officer of the DOJ has for two years abused his position of power to destroy many lives in the cruelest of ways with impunity.

No one is stopping him and his band of legal bullies. Including the President of the United States.

WHO IS PAYING ROBERT MUELLER’S BILLS AND FOR WHAT REASON?

no-spend-limit-muellerHow many agents should a law enforcement organization send to arrest a highly visible, older, non-violent man, who is not a flight risk, for allegedly lying to Congress — particularly, when the individual has appeared numerous times on national TV saying he expects to be arrested and was obviously making no attempt to avoid law enforcement officials?

Yet, last week, special counsel Robert Mueller sent 29 highly armed agents in 17 vehicles to Roger Stone’s home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, in a predawn raid to arrest him. Such action smacks of the Gestapo or the KGB.

CNN had been obviously tipped off by the Mueller people so they were there to film the raid. All of this was not only highly inappropriate, but a huge waste of taxpayer money.

One of the many problems with the special counsel set up is that Mr. Mueller operates without a specified budget. He merely draws upon Department of Justice and FBI resources, including personnel, as he sees fit.  Who is authorizing this and why?

HALF-FULL REPORT 01/25/19

Nick Sandmann – HFR Hero of the Week
Nick Sandmann – HFR Hero of the Week

Look at his eyes.  There is no fear in his eyes.  That’s the reason for the pathological hate.  Nick Sandmann is our Rosa Parks.

Just as she became an icon of resistance to the anti-black racism of the Democrat Jim Crow South in the 1950s, The Sandmann is now our icon of resistance to the anti-white racism of the Fascist Democrat Party and the Fascist Media today.

Look at his fearless eyes.  Look at his pleasant smile.  It’s not a “smirk” – it’s an expression of a friendly kid, who’s confidant in himself.  He’s saying silently, “It’s okay to be white, I have no apologies for who I am, and I refuse to sit in the back of your anti-white racist bus.”

This morning (1/25) we published Nick Sandmann’s statement, What Happened at the Lincoln Memorial.  Obviously a must-read.

On Wednesday (1/23), young Nick was interviewed by Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s Today show.  She started right out asking Nick to apologize and admit the episode was his fault.  He refused, saying “I had every right to stand there,” and “I cannot say I’m sorry.”

This 16 year-old boy has more spine than the majority of Republicans in Congress put together.  Here’s the lesson Nick Sandmann has to teach all of us who love America against those who hate us and it:

stand-your-ground
