How upset are you over the CIA “secret prison scandal”? Maybe you said, “What scandal?”, or maybe you’ve glanced at stories about it carried in the back pages of your newspaper. Here in Europe, it’s the giant screaming front page headline story on every paper you pick up from England to Germany.

The Europeans are in a state of high emotional froth over CIA “renditions” of Moslem terrorists seized in one of their countries and taken to a “secret prison” in Poland or elsewhere. The Euroweenies are far more concerned with the “human rights” of the terrorists than they are about the threat of terrorists to kill them.

If you think all of this is just an excuse to bash the CIA and indulge in anti-Americanism, you’re right – just as planned by the weasels.

Everyone on the right, it seems nowadays, from the editorials in the Wall Street Journal to conservative columnists like Mona Charen and bloggers like John Hinderacker, are issuing calls to “Investigate the CIA!” They have been suckered by the left.

They should instead be demanding, “Investigate the weasels, not the agency!”

According to a usually reliable French investigator and author, Spanish authorities are now convinced that the Madrid massacre was organized by our old friend, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Zarqawi has also been credited for being one of the major organizers of the terror war against the Coalition in Iraq, and was named by Secretary of State Colin Powell in his presentation to the Security Council prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom as a key al Qaeda leader, with ties to the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq.

There are a number of major players besides Norton: Mcafee, F-Prot, Kaspersky, NOD32 (a corporate version of Norton), and others. You might think choosing among them is easy. Simply test each one against all the known viruses and select the product that catches the most.

Unfortunately, it’s not so simple.

THE AIR FORCE’S PROBLEM IS BIGGER THAN THE F-22 VS. THE F-35

In last week's Half-Full Report (see the section on Debbie Does USAF), Jack asked me to comment about America's F-22A Raptor and F-35A/B/C Lightning II fighters. Namely: if the F-22 Raptor was the better fighter, why was it canceled in favor of the F-35?

Both fighters sit at the nexus of some pretty big assumptions and questions about US air power in the next few decades, so it's hard to give a brief answer, but I'm going to try.

In brief: Yes, the F-22 is a much better fighter than the F-35. Indeed, it remains the best fighter in the world by a wide margin. The flip side is that it can't perform some roles, costs a lot to maintain, and will cost quite a lot ($7 billion or more) to upgrade to modern standards.

But the bottom line is thatI don't think the core problem is F-22 vs. F-35. The core problem is...

Zurich, Switzerland. I'm here speaking at a conference and having a great time.

I'm sure you've heard of the Oprah-in-Zurich media frenzy with headlines all over the world, almost all of which assumed Oprah was the victim of racist bigotry. As did the Swiss Tourism Office, cravenly apologizing without even bothering to determine the truth or defend the salesgirl. Oprah Gets Apology for Racist Diss in Handbag Shop is how ABC News so objectively put it.

So it was up to the salesgirl to defend herself - and she did, saying Oprah lied straight out. As one headline put it: Oprah ‘Cannibalized' Me: Shop Clerk in Zurich Handbag Scandal Says TV Host Is Lying About Alleged Racist Incident. Good for her - and good for her boss, Tres Pommes owner Trudi Goetz, who supported her employee's side of the story and called Oprah's accusation "absurd."

Speaking of unspeakably tiresome phony libtard frenzies about racism, we were subjected to a second one this week. This time over a rodeo in Missouri.

We need to notice what these two "Libtards Crying Racism" spasms have in common besides hysterically using the only card they have left in their deck now. It's what they both have in common with the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman debacle.

GLOBAL WARMING’S FATAL CONCEIT

Much of Northern Europe, including Britain, is suffering under the coldest winter and spring of the last 30 to 100 years. The Northeastern part of the United States has had a record cold March. The record cold in Europe has killed thousands and cost billions. It was not supposed to be this way.

Back in 1998, scientist Michael Mann published a paper with the famous "hockey stick" showing a sharp rise in global temperatures. Mr. Mann and others argued that if global action was not taken immediately, then the temperature rise would be rapid and uncontrollable. Much of Mr. Mann's work was the basis for Al Gore's famous film "An Inconvenient Truth." What has turned out to be an inconvenient truth is that Mr. Mann and his allies were sloppy in their research and engaged in a campaign to disparage their critics.

WAS IT STOLEN?

[Note by JW: We are being asked to believe that Romney got close to three million fewer votes in 2012 than John McCain got in 2008. That's not possible. This election is a fraud. I don't know exactly how - rigging voting machines, hacking tabulation software, not counting military absentee ballots, whatever. What I do know is that it is totally beyond believability and into the realm of ridiculously absurd that Romney actually got any fewer votes than McCain in 2008, much less millions fewer. Thus the answer to Dave's question must be Yes.]

I hate going down a birther road, but yes I believe the election was stolen, and the implications of that are very bad.

First of all, Obama received 10 million less votes than he did in 2008. The part that is unbelievable is that Romney received 3 million less votes than McCain. At the end of the day, Obama won in the 4 critical swing states by 500,000 votes.

But it is worse than that. We can look at who voted. By examining the number of Independents and their preference shift among actual voters, we know that 5 million Independents changed their votes from Obama to Romney. So Romney started the day 2.5 million votes ahead of where McCain was in 2008.

This means that 5.5 million Republican voters are not accounted for.

They didn't show up at the polls, or their votes were not counted. We know now that no subgroup of the coalition decided to sit out. So the current attempts to blame the Social Conservatives are stupid. All of our groups showed up to vote at the rates they did in 2008. For this to be true, over 10% of Republicans needed to decide not to vote this year, who did vote in 2008.

Does that make any sense?

THE SURVIVAL OF ASIAN EUROPE

Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabagh, de facto Armenia. The only thing most Americans know about Armenia is that it’s where Kim Kardashian’s family comes from. Me, the only thing I know about Kim Kardashian is that she’s one of those PR Celebrities famous for being famous. What exactly she’s popular for I haven’t a clue.

Skye, of course, knows not only about Armenia, but this part of it seized from Azerbaijan in 1992. Yet even he was concerned. “Stay safe!” he cautioned. Yes, this was a war zone until recently, but the greatest danger I face here is imbibing too much Armenian brandy—after all, Winston Churchill considered it the best brandy in the world.

Actually, the scary part is getting here – driving a ridiculously dangerous mountain road with no guard rails known as the Lachin Corridor (see map) connecting Stepanakert to Armenia proper. It’s even more fun at night in rain and heavy fog. They’ve built a new airport and promise to start flights as soon as they believe the Azerbaijanis won’t shoot the planes down.

Once you’re here, though, it’s a big surprise. This place is booming, with construction cranes at work all over, new hotels and restaurants, folks brimming with optimism, not a soldier in sight, streets so safe kids play at night with no worries. I have a good internet connection and a cold Kotayk beer.

It’s great being here – and a perfect place to talk about the survival of Asian Europe.

THANKFUL WITH NO BUTS: A CONSERVATIVE THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is the unique American holiday. We share Christmas and Easter with every other Christian nation. Most every country celebrates its Independence Day, and the birthdays of their founding heroes. Thanksgiving is ours, where we give our deepest thanks to Providence for the extraordinary gift of America to mankind.

Other countries have their special times to celebrate their uniqueness, when their citizens take justifiable pride in their country's achievements, and all to the good. Thanksgiving is America's Day, the time when all Americans - all - get to celebrate the achievements of the most successful society in human history.

Tragically, however, there are Americans who do not have the capacity to celebrate being American. They are called liberals. Especially those currently dominating the Democrat Party.

The purpose of Thanksgiving is to be thankful for being American. Thankful with no buts. No whining and moaning about what happened to the Indians, or about slavery and poverty and racism. No buts. Think that Democrats can do this? Let's see.

Why is it that the left always denounces people on the right for ‘wrapping themselves in the American flag,' and is so fond of saying ‘patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels' - and then celebrates this same behavior when performed by illegal aliens?

The giant pro-illegal immigration rallies of Monday April 10 in many US cities have got to be the greatest exercises of phony flag waving in the history of America. And newspapers like the Washington Post promoted it to the hilt, with front page pictures of demonstrators waving a sea of American flags and carrying signs saying ‘We are all Americans'.

It was such an incredibly obvious act of mass political cynicism. The first mass pro-illegal alien demonstrations a couple of weeks before displayed the demonstrators' true loyalties by waving the Mexican flag. Now they all turn on a dime and there's hardly a Mexican flag to be seen. It's all we-love-America-red-white-and-blue. Yet the chant is still the same: Si se puede in Spanish, not ‘Yes we can' in English.

But ‘yes we can' what?

For some time now, I’ve been telling you that Condi Rice may replace Dick Cheney (who would step down for “health reasons”) as Bush’s Vice-President, putting her in the catbird seat for the GOP presidential nomination in ’08. I expect this to take place by summer 2006.

As I discussed last month in 44, her candidacy would be do more damage to the Democrat Party than Katrina did to the Gulf Coast. She is the only candidate the GOP can put up who could defeat Hillary.

(Try this on as a barf alert: John McCain as Hillary’s running mate. Denied the GOP nomination, he’ll bolt his party and team with Hil who’s got the Dem nomination sewed up. Yep, that’s the latest hot DC buzz.)

Now it’s time for the other shoe to drop.

I’m sure you’ve noticed your inboxes filling up with spam. There’s been widespread media coverage of the problem. I have little to add, except to emphasize the spam is normally not innocent. It consists of spyware, Trojans, viruses, adware and other assorted malware that can ruin your whole day.

The military-industrial complex that Dwight Eisenhower warned us about has turned inward, and the perps are now us. That may be a bitter pill for many of us to swallow, but it's true just the same.

So, here we are. For most of our lives, we thought it was only criminals who needed to hide from government. Now we find that it's time for the citizens to hide. Sad as that may be, it's something we need to face.

Before I explain how to hide, let me repeat something that a lot of us have said before: We do not hide because our works are criminal, but because we need to protect ourselves from criminal punishments, seizures and prosecutions.

OK - it's the middle of August, and it's time for a Fun HFR. Are you old enough to remember The Coasters?

Growing up in the Fifties, we knew all their songs by heart, like Searchin', Poison Ivy, and Yakety-Yak. And who could forget Charlie Brown? Every high school had a class clown, and the Coasters' classic was about him.

This week, their Golden Oldie became President Zero's theme song. Watch and listen to The Coasters' performing it on Dick Clark's American Bandstand in March of 1959, to understand why...

...All of a sudden, everybody's picking on our dunce of a president. On Monday (8/05), a George Mason University study showed that Zero is now the most popular butt of late-night show jokes, including Letterman, Leno, Fallon, and Kimmel. On Tuesday (8/06), he gave a gaffe-tastic interview with Jay Leno, saying, e.g., Charleston SC and Jacksonville FL were ports on the Gulf of Mexico.

Cartoonists are having a field day making fun of Zero's wimping out regarding the "threat" of Al Qaeda's "chatter." And then there's Sama.

Sama Elmasry is a voluptuous and extremely popular Egyptian entertainer - and much more so this week with her latest video that's gone over-the-top viral in Egypt and across the Arab world. You gotta prepare yourself for this as it'll blow you away. This is the most extraordinary political video of modern times.
