HEALTH FREEDOM LEGISLATION

[I have been asked by a Republican Senator's office to suggest a GOP health reform package that would be in stark contrast to the now-failed attempt of the Democrats.  Here it is.  Please consider faxing or emailing this to Republican politicians in your state.]

Health care in America has become exorbitantly unaffordable because of government interference in the medical market place.  All the Democrats can offer is further government controls, mandates, and trillion-dollar increases in taxpayer-paid costs.

Yet health care costs can only be radically reduced by a radical reduction of regulations that stifle competition and subsidies to special interests.  Only genuine free market reforms can substantially increase both the availability and quality of health care.

What the Republicans can offer is Health Freedom as an alternative to the Health Fascism of Democrat ObamaCare.

Ten Specific Means By Which Health Freedom Can Be Achieved

TO THE POINT BEACH PARTY!

OK, it's all set.  We gave you a heads up two weeks ago in Sarasota Rendezvous.  Now the details.  The To The Point Winter Rendezvous will be from Friday February 8 to Sunday February 10 at the Hilton Longboat Key Beachfront Resort in Sarasota, Florida.

We have blocked a number of rooms at amazing rate of $199 (that's for a double or less than $100 per person, and realize, this is right on the beach at the highest of high season, when everyone wants to escape from February snow and ice to Florida sunshine).

To reserve yours, just click on the Rendezvous picture on the TTP home page (top of the left side bar) or click here for Rendezvous Reservation.

The cost of the Rendezvous itself is $285.  That includes dinner Friday and Saturday nights, breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings, and all meetings and activities.  There will be in-depth briefings and discussions by me and To The Point stars such as Jack Kelly and Dr. Joel Wade.

And of course, there is the wonderful fun of getting together with your fellow TTPers.

We'll do so right on the beach with its world-famous white sugar sand - sunset beach parties with a bar set up on the sand just for us.

THE GIFT OF TO THE POINT

We've just made it really easy to give a friend the enlightening gift of a subscription to To The Point.  There's a new option on our subscription page:  a one month only non-recurring gift subscription for $9.99.

Now what could you give a friend that could more open his or her eyes to the world and give them more insight upon it than this - and for less than ten bucks?

It's also the way to bring a currently non-member friend to the To The Point Rendezvous in Las Vegas next month (see Rendezvous at Mandalay).

Here's how it works.

IS ALLAH TICKED OFF AT IRAN?

The mullahs have had a lot of bad news in recent days - news with a particularly sinister aura, in fact. So sinister that they are asking themselves what they have done to incur the Wrath of Allah.

I kid you not.

First is the loss of one of their terrorist stars, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the deus ex machina of the terror war against us in Iraq. Not only does that deprive the mullahs of a prime instrument for generating Sunni/Shia civil war, but it is a serious blow to recruitment throughout the terror network.

But the loss of Zarqawi is nothing compared to the clear message from Allah on the soccer fields of Germany. No, I'm not talking about the demonstrations against President Ahmadinutjob, I'm talking about the Mexican victory over Iran in the first round of the World Cup.

THE SAGE

The Sage is a comprehensive dictionary/encyclopedia with a completely integrated dictionary and thesaurus that defines words, terms, concepts, historical events and even has an anagram decrypter - with nearly everything cross-referenced, allowing you to jump from word to concept with just one click.

What's in a word? Well, according to The Sage, a word is far more than the definition listed in the dictionary; it's a lemma, which means that it really is a "topic" or a chapter heading; for example, a word can be defined as a part of speech (noun, verb), a hypernym (part of a larger category), synonym, holonym, antonym (look them up), or other type.

Israel, for example, is a country (hypernym), a part of the Middle East (holonym), the home of Israelis (meronym) and it can be defined in dozens of other ways.

THE UMBRELLAS OF HONG KONG EXPOSE CHINA’S CATCH-22

China's Xi Jinping cannot make any serious concessions to Hong Kong's democracy movement. The Umbrella Revolution spreading from the affluent Island to the poorer quarters of Kowloon is an existential threat to the Chinese Communist Party.

"If he were to give way, it would set off contagion across the mainland," said George Walden, a veteran British diplomat who survived the Cultural Revolution inside China and later negotiated Hong Kong's future with Deng Xiaoping.

"The authorities see this as a matter of life and death, a fuse that can take down their world," said Zhao Chu, a Chinese columnist and star on Weibo - China's Twitter.

For China's Communist Party, the Hong Kong drama exposes its Catch-22, the impossible contradiction of its policies.  Yet the crisis comes at a treacherous moment for Hong Kong as well.

The enclave is up to its neck in China's credit bubble, channeling $1.2 trillion in hard currency loans to Chinese companies. The International Monetary Fund said the "extreme tail event" of a credit shock in China would "entirely wipe out capital in Hong Kong's banking system."

HALF FULL REPORT 05/16/14

My first email early this morning (5/16) was to congratulate TTPer Karma Singh.  You've been reading his reports on India, the last one being India's Ronald Reagan (4/30/14).

The results of history's largest election - well over 500 million ballots cast - were announced today, giving India's Ronald Reagan - Narendra Modi - a stunningly massive victory.

The corrupt Congress Party, which has monopolized power in India for most of the last 67 years, had its clock cleaned.  Modi has a mandate to govern India as strong as Nehru's Congress Party in the 1950s.

Nehru was a Third World Socialist who ruined India's economy.  Modi is and will do the opposite. India has much to be proud of today and much to look forward to.  Now we in America must hope that we'll follow in India's footsteps and elect a pro-capitalist pro-freedom pro-patriotism government, starting this November...

...But we certainly won't be taking those steps by electing an immoral idiot like Jeb Bush as president.

WHAT HAS CHANGED IN TWO THOUSAND YEARS?

Are you more responsible than your government? If so, what can you do about it?  How can you carry fiscal prudence from the kitchen table to the voting booth?

If your personal spending rises faster than your income each year, you eventually will go bankrupt. Responsible people understand this and thus refrain from taking on more debt than their income can support. This basic fact is true of individuals, businesses and even governments -- look at Greece and Detroit.

President Obama presented his budget proposal for 2015 last week. As the chart below shows, it calls for increasing government spending from $3.6 trillion this year to $5.9 trillion in 2024. Much of this whopping increase is to be funded through more deficit spending -- thus increasing the debt-to-gross domestic product ratio, which is already at a record high for peacetime.

There is nothing new about governments overspending and accumulating fatal amounts of debt. A quote attributed to Roman senator Cicero (106-43 BC) warned:

"The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced. The arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced if the nation does not want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."

OBAMA’S OPIATE

Last week (12/04), Mr. Obama confirmed the suspicion of many that he is indeed a Marxist by giving a speech claiming that "income inequality" is, according to him, "the defining challenge of our time."

Yesterday (12/10), the Drudge Report headlined a speech given by David Simon, producer of the HBO show, The Wire, entitled "My Country Is A Horror Show."   Marx was right about capitalism, according to Simon, which is why capitalist America is heartless and cruel and doesn't care about the poor.

Thus I was involved in a revealing exchange yesterday. Something I had tweeted about this prompted a series of responses along the lines of "Typical: like all capitalists, you don't like poor people."

I couldn't help tweeting back: "I love all these ‘capitalists don't like poor people' tweets. It's true: we want to turn them into rich people. It's socialists who need their client groups."

What's fascinating here is not just that the Leftie tweeters are wrong; it's that, like Mr. Obama and Mr. Simon, their premises are lifted directly from Karl Marx.

WHEN WILL AMERICANS BE AMERICANS AGAIN?

There is so little doubt over who is the TTP Hero of the Week right now that I'm jumping the gun, rather than disclose it in the Half-Full Report tomorrow.

She's a lady from the small town (pop. 6,600) of Wetumpka, Alabama on the Coosa River some 12 miles north of Montgomery.  Her name is Becky Gerritson.

Day before yesterday (6/04), in her capacity as founder and president of the Wetumpka Tea Party, she testified on Capitol Hill before the House Ways and Means Committee.  After putting up with her and her fellow witnesses being mocked by one of the biggest scumbags in Congress, Baghdad Jim McDermott - who told them they had "brought [IRS persecution] upon themselves" - she told the Congressistas:

"I'm not here as a serf or a vassal. I'm not begging my lords for mercy. I'm a born-free American woman, wife, mother, and citizen. And I'm telling my government that you've forgotten your place."

"You've forgotten your place."  These are indeed the words of a proudly born-free American, and Becky Gerritson should be a hero to all of us for the courage to stand up to the Fascists of Washington and say them to their face.  Yet her heroic words are also tragic, for it is millions of her countrymen who have allowed the fascisti to forget their place.  How do we get them to become born-free Americans like Becky Gerritson?

THE DOUBLE-D STRATEGY FOR RESCUING AMERICA

A friend of mine lives in Kona on the Big Island in Hawaii.  He has a fishing boat which he proudly named the 44-DD after a spectacular feature of his wife's anatomy.  This is not about that sort of Double-D.

While it may be difficult to keep your mind off what that spectacular feature might look like - just as it's hard to comply with the demand that you not think of a pink elephant - let's try and focus on a Double-D that can rescue our country from the clutches of the Fascist Democrat Party and the destruction being wrought upon it by President Zero.

So - what does this Double-D stand for? It's a strategy for any Republican wanting to get elected or re-elected to Congress in 2010, and for any Tea Partyer wanting to take individual action now against a government that ignores the Constitution.   Double-D stands for...

HOW CONSERVATIVES ARE GOING TO GET IN BED WITH NANCY PELOSI

How many times have you heard that old adage, "politics makes for strange bedfellows"?  But no matter how many times that's been, you're not going to believe how many conservative Republican Members of Congress are about to jump in bed with Speaker Pelosi.

One of the things that most drives these folks around the bend is the sell-out of their party's principles to Country Club Corporate America.  They can't stand Big Business's addiction to cheap labor.  It's an addiction that blocks effective attempts to stem the flood of illegal alien immigration from Mexico, or to stem the flood of trade deficit dollars to China.

The list of issues that conservatives in the House will oppose Pelosi on seems endless, and amnesty for illegals plus refusing to fence them out is certainly one of them.  But there is one issue not on that list, an issue of the gravest national security on which they are sure cooperation with her is possible.

That issue is...

AHMADINUTJOB

The Mahmoud Ahmadinejad interview in Der Spiegel has its moments, to be sure, but overall it's about what you would expect. He's an uncultured fanatic who will never admit error but simply reassert his lies.  We should transliterate his name from Farsi as Ahmadinutjob. (Thanks to Ariel Cohen of the Heritage Foundation for this suggestion.)

He's not at all interested in what we call "the pursuit of the truth," so there is no real interview or dialogue (the crowd calling for negotiations with this regime ought to study this text, because if they do it seriously they will realize that you cannot negotiate with these people).

He constantly projects Iranian political culture onto the rest of the world, which is what you would expect from an uncultured ideologue. And it's astonishing to watch the Spiegel interviewer fall into one rhetorical trap after another.

In many ways, the interview is noteworthy for its exposure of the fecklessness of a German interviewer facing an Iranian bully.

SONY SPYWARE BACKLASH

In certain movies and TV shows, the background music is almost as important as the show itself.

Music plants itself in the mind and memory as no visual image can, so a movie or TV show about life in the Sixties will, as a matter of course, have background tunes to evoke memories of the era. It's amazing how long-forgotten songs can bring back powerful memories - and, of course, sell more tickets. Proving that, in the final analysis, what we really get when we buy a CD is an "experience" - a memory and a feeling that can last a lifetime.

And that's all we need, as far as Sony Music (known nowadays as Sony BMG) is concerned. In what can only be termed a "scandal," it was revealed last week that the Sony people took extreme steps, to the point of jeopardizing customer's computers, to ensure that the only thing you'll retain when playing one of their CDs is the memory of the music - and not, heaven forbid, a copy of it.
