MR. OBAMA’S JOBS SPEECH SHOULD TAKE 30 SECONDS

The Obama administration and others on the left seemed to be stunned when the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported no new net jobs last month (8/11). When President Obama makes his "jobs speech," the American people will see whether he and his advisers have learned anything from the three years of Obamanomics failures.

If they have not, his speech will drone on and on, putting his listeners and the economy to sleep.  If they have, then his speech could electrify his listeners and the economy.  Such a speech need not be long.  Here is what he could say Thursday night in 30 seconds or less:

PARADISE LOST

Majuro Atoll, Marshall Islands, Pacific Ocean.  What is your vision of a coral atoll paradise?  A lagoon of crystal clear turquoise water, a beach of pure white sand edged by coconut palms, their fronds rustling in the gentle trade winds?

Friendly, welcoming islanders skillfully sailing their outrigger canoes beyond the reef to capture a bounty of fish which they happily share with you?  An underwater aquarium that's a snorkler's or scubadiver's dream?  A thatch hut, a hammock, a perfectly made mai tai or piña colada with which to enjoy a perfect sunset in the glistening ocean?

There are such places on this planet.  If you are searching for one of them, don't come here to Majuro.  This place was a paradise once just as described above.  Now it is a dump.  Literally.  This is one of Majuro's more pristine beaches:

m_trash_beach.jpg

This atoll - this country, the sovereign independent United Nations member nation of the Republic of the Marshall Islands of which Majuro is the capital - is Paradise Lost.  It is the vision, the goal, the template that Democrats have for America.  The future they strive for and dream they have for our country is the Paradise Lost of Majuro Atoll.

THE STIMULUS IS A STEP TOWARDS A SOVIET AMERICA

[Senator Coburn, R-OK, recently gave this speech on the floor of the Senate]

With this Stimulus Bill, we are going in exactly the wrong direction. We ought to be standing on the principles that made this country great.

I want to make sure the American people know what is in this bill. I think once they know what is in this bill, they are going to reject it out of hand.

We are at a seminal moment in our country. We will either start living within the confines of realism and responsibility or we will blow it and we will create the downfall of the greatest nation that ever lived.

This bill is the start of that downfall. To abandon a market-oriented society and transfer it to a Soviet-style, government-centered, bureaucratic-run and mandated program, that is the thing that will put the stake in the heart of freedom in this country.

STERILIZING SEWER CITY

With people dying from infected water in New Orleans, which won’t be drained for weeks, it is critically important to disinfect the flood water as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The Army Corps of Engineers has many years of institutional experience at safely chlorinating sewer water. They can scale up that experience for the “Sewer City” that New Orleans has become.

Chlorine is a standard treatment for disinfecting sewage. It would take a few railroad tank cars of liquid chlorine for the job.

LEGITIMACY AND DISOBEDIENCE

These are times that try men's souls, wrote Thomas Paine in 1776, and so is the time that's upon us now. So, it is time to examine our core beliefs, very clearly and plainly. More than anything else, difficult times demand that we know what we believe - not with shallow slogans, but down to our depths.

"Conservative values" are not a core belief - they are derivative, not primary. The term is, at best, a short-hand reference to a set of ideas. But unless you have a very clear grasp of what those values are, the slogan becomes a cheap imitation. We must know the real thing, not merely a group of words that stand in its place.

Have you ever asked yourself what makes a government legitimate?

Legitimacy in human government is far more important than force. Ruling humans by force alone is a losing proposition: The ruled will adapt; they'll hide their grain before it can be taken, or they'll just leave. In order to rule humans successfully, they have to be willing. This willingness can be attained either by manipulation or by convincing people that joining together provides better results.

A government that convinces people to support it has a valid claim to legitimacy. A government that manipulates people into supporting it does not.

HALF-FULL REPORT 01/20/12

Absolutely no doubt who the HFR Hero of the Week is:  Rick Perry, who took a bullet for the team.  He was all set to give an adaptation of a suggested closing statement I wrote for him (appended below) at the South Carolina debate last night (1/19), when he decided that if he continued, the Not Romney vote would remain so split Romney would win.

Now he won't.  Gingrich will win the SC primary tomorrow (1/21) - despite the Obamamedia trying to take him out with his coyote ugly shrew ex-wife from Hell - thanks to Perry.

That said, there is also absolutely no doubt who the HFR Jerk of the Week is - the schmuck, the phony "social conservative," the corrupt horse's derriere of the year - who singlehandedly caused Perry to lose the nomination because Perry told him to shove it for soliciting a bribe while Santorum said, "Let's talk."

We're talking about...

ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR WASHINGTON DUMMIES

Did you know that in Denmark, the poorest 30% pay 14.1% of all taxes and the richest pay 48.7%  -- while in the United States, the poorest 30% pay just 6.1 % of all taxes and the richest 30% pay a whopping 65.3%?

The surprising thing is not that the richest pay most of the taxes but that the U.S. has nearly the most progressive tax system in the world, while the Scandinavian countries have about the least progressive tax systems, contrary to commonly held belief.

The above facts, along with hundreds of other useful tidbits, are found in a compelling new book, Government Versus Markets: The Changing Economic Role of the State (Cambridge University Press, 2011), by one of the world's most highly regarded economists, Vito Tanzi.   It, and one other book, should be required reading for Washington dummies.

STANDING UP TO CHINA

Singapore.  Let's first talk about money, the Chicoms and ours.  We have heroes of humanity pictured, like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Benjamin Franklin.  On every denomination of theirs, they picture the greatest mass murderer (as listed in Guinness) in human history.

chicom_yuan.jpg

Mao was a monster like Stalin and Hitler who laughed his way through the deaths of tens of millions from his man-made famines, being tortured to death in his  Laogai - the Chinese Gulag in which millions languish to this day - or shot like this peasant woman for being "counter-revolutionary":

chicom_murder.jpg

Stare hard at this picture.  This happened to countless Chinese.  This is the image that should come to all of our minds whenever we hear any story or news item about Red China.  For it's still Red, and always will be until it removes the most evil human being who ever lived off its money - and apologizes to the world for his existence.

Which is why China's truculent demand that Japan apologize for seizing a Chinese fishing boat and arresting its captain for poaching in Japanese waters, after the boat rammed a Japanese Navy patrol vessel is so ludicrous - yet no laughing matter to all of China's neighbors.

THE AMERICAN OPTION

The stimulus bill that is being championed by Mr. Obama, which was passed by Democrats in the House last Wednesday (1/28), is the worst piece of economic legislation Congress has considered in a hundred years.

Not since the passage in 1909 of the 16th Amendment--which cleared the way for a federal income tax--has the United States seriously entertained a policy so comprehensively hostile to economic freedom, or so arrogantly indifferent to economic reality.

This bill is not a stimulus, ladies and gentlemen; it is a mugging. It is a fraud. Conservatives who fear proponents of this bill want to inch our economy closer to European-style socialism are kidding themselves. The proponents of this bill want to strap a big rocket on the back of our economy and launch it all the way to Brussels!

This massive spending bill is fatally flawed. It will not rescue our economy; it will strangle it. That is why this bill must be stopped dead in its tracks. It cannot be fixed in the Senate by adding a few tax cuts or taking away a little spending. It must be scrapped entirely.

CREDENCE IN GAZA

With apologies to John Fogerty and Credence Clearwater Revival:

I see the bad Palestinian moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightning.
I see bad Gaza times today.

Don't go around in Gaza tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad Palestinian moon on the rise.

THE PETRAEUS ESPIONAGE FILE

I may have awakened him.  The late James Jesus Angleton, once the chief of CIA counterintelligence, sounded kinda groggy to me after I got him-loud and clear!-on my famously untrustworthy ouija board.  Of course I have no idea whether he gets to sleep at all.  I don't quite know exactly "where" he is, after all, and he doesn't answer direct questions on the subject.  Anyway, there he was, and I started right in.

ML:  So what am I supposed to think about Petraeus?

JJA:  That you're living in a country where espionage is rampant.

ML:  Huh?

JJA:  Have you read those stories about the "software breakdowns" in the Romney get-out-the-vote program "Orca"?

ML:  Sure, it didn't work, passwords didn't work, it was a gigantic snafu.

JJA:  Uh huh.  And has anyone raised the possibility that the Romney organization was penetrated in order to introduce "fatal errors" in their computers?

HALF-FULL REPORT 01/13/12

We begin with the announcement many of you have been patiently waiting for:  The 12th TTP Rendezvous (RXII) will be in California on Memorial Day weekend, Friday May 25 to Sunday May 26.  Monday the 28th is Memorial Day, which gives everyone a day to either relax or return home at a leisurely pace.

RXII will be The Plan B Rendezvous.  We'll have a few sessions where a speaker talks and folks listen.  But the main focus is for this to be a working rendezvous, discussing what strategies you can avail yourself of to best protect and prepare yourself for an increasingly probable fascist maelstrom.

We all hope for an end to the Zero Presidency this November (actually next January).  Yet we can't bet our farms on this, nor that there won't be extremely severe economic, social, and political problems in the aftermath of its desired demise, due to the inertia of fascism it has built up.

How you and your loved ones surmount those problems is quite likely to depend on how good your Plan B is.  The purpose of The Plan B Rendezvous is to enable you get a Plan B that really works for you.  A number of TTPers have already done this, and they'll be there to teach you how. I'll see you there.

Now here's a  question of the week:  What is Rick Perry's Plan B?  He does have one, you know.

HOW ABOUT DOING COST-BENEFIT FOR REAL, MR. OBAMA?

It is widely recognized that excessive regulation is unnecessarily killing jobs. The question has been what to do about it.

The president is telling us he is trying to do everything possible to create jobs. Members of his administration have acknowledged that regulations that do not meet a cost-benefit test cost jobs - as everyone with a basic understanding of economics realizes.

Yet the cost-benefit studies that are done by these regulatory agencies are little more than jokes, with grossly incomplete and incompetent analyses.  Here's a simple way they can be done for real.  How about it, Mr. President?

PELOSI IN PYONGYANG

nk_map.jpg

Beijing, ChinaA friend of mine and yours just got here after spending a year in North Korea.  Well, actually it was less than two weeks, but it felt like a year.

He's been to well over 200 countries and separate political jurisdictions all over the globe, and he says NorkLand is far - far - away the weirdest place on the planet.  One of the conditions of his going there, however, is that he had to sign an agreement that he couldn't write anything about what he saw.

So I interviewed him, as he isn't prohibited from talking about what he saw.  What follows is his report as told to me, including a raft of pictures he took.  His conclusion:  North Korea is an environmentalist's paradise, the Dream of the Left.  It is Nancy Pelosi's fondest fantasy.  It is where she and her fellow Fascicrats should move to after they are thrown out of power on November 2nd.  North Korea is where they belong.

I HOPE HE FAILS

TTP salutes Rush Limbaugh for having the courage to state what all rational conservatives feel.

I got a request here from a major American print publication.  "Dear Rush:  For the Obama [Immaculate] Inauguration we are asking a handful of very prominent politicians, statesmen, scholars, businessmen, commentators, and economists to write 400 words on their hope for the Obama presidency.  We would love to include you.  If you could send us 400 words on your hope for the Obama presidency, we need it by Monday night, that would be ideal."

Now, we're caught in this trap again.  The premise is, what is your "hope."  My hope, and please understand me when I say this.  I disagree fervently with the people on our side of the aisle who have caved and who say, "Well, I hope he succeeds.  We've got to give him a chance."

Why?  They didn't give Bush a chance in 2000.  Before he was inaugurated the search-and-destroy mission had begun.  I'm not talking about search-and-destroy, but I've been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half.  I know what his politics are.  I know what his plans are, as he has stated them.  I don't want them to succeed.

So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails."
