Chapter Eight: MALINCHE

Chapter Eight: Malinche

Aguilar found Malinali cowering in the lee of large sand dune. Perspiration was pouring off her, her chest was heaving with rapid breaths, and her eyes were glazed with panic and terror. “Doña Marina!” he cried, “What is wrong?!” He got a wet cloth and patted her brow. Her eyes slowly focused on him. Finally, she stammered “I… must talk… to Captain Cortez…”

Aguilar was startled. Nonetheless, he said he would relay her request. A few moments later he returned and beckoned, bringing her to the Captain’s tent. Cortez was sitting in his chair and looked up at her. Malinali stood still, legs quivering, desperately trying to subdue her breathing and her emotions. Cortez quickly saw the girl was abjectly terrified. He motioned for Aguilar to bring her a drink of water.

“Doña Marina,” said Aguilar, “What is it that you wish to speak of to the Captain?”

Malinali closed her eyes to listen to her father’s voice. “Ixkakuk!” she heard her father say, “a true queen is always in command of her feelings and fears!” As she opened her eyes, Cortez saw her transformed into a different person. Instead of a shaking slave girl scared out of her wits, suddenly standing before him was a regally erect woman of extraordinary beauty, poise, and calm. A woman who looked directly into his eyes as she said to Aguilar:

“I must ask Captain Cortez if he is a man or a god.”

HALF-FULL REPORT 01/09/15

Since I discussed yesterday the Moslem Massacre in Paris in Time to End the Insanity, we'll start with what happened on Capitol Hill this week.  The rage directed at John Boehner, while fully justified, nonetheless, calls for a step back into perspective.

Let's have a 19th century American poet from Vermont provide it, John Godrey Saxe (1816-1887).  You see, the real problem in the House GOP is far scarier than Boehner...

In California, the building of the Santa-Barbara News-Press was vandalized late Wednesday night (1/07) after the editors refused demands they stop referring to illegal aliens as "illegal."  "The border is illegal, not the people who cross it" was spray-painted in red on the building.

For now, the pro-illegal thugs are armed with spray cans, not AK-47s.  But many will now ask, in the wake of Charlie Hebdo and the growing threat of Mexican Nazis - for how much longer?...

Yet you may be amazed that the HFR Hero of the Week without doubt is a Moslem...

And there's juicy stuff, good news, and the HFR Health & Fitness feature as well...

THE GOP CONGRESS BETTER BE DYNAMIC NOT STATIC ON TAXING AND SPENDING

Would you make an effort to find additional ways to reduce your tax burden if your tax rate was suddenly raised 50 percent?

The higher one's income, the more incentive a person has to find ways to minimize his tax burden -- which is why very high tax rates on the rich always fail to produce the projected revenue.

Republican congressional leaders have pledged to undertake tax and spending reform. To do so, they need accurate projections of the impact on tax revenues, job creation and economic growth resulting from their possible alternative reforms.

This requires realistic models of what is likely to happen, so they need to find the best possible experts to manage the Joint Committee on Taxation and the Congressional Budget Office.

These are two key questions I would pose to the candidates for these positions:

ERIC HOLDER’S DEMONIZATION OF HONEST ELECTIONS

[TTP has long maintained that voter fraud is a primary means by which Democrats win elections - which accounts for their fanatical opposition to Voter ID laws.  Here, Ronald Reagan's Attorney General, together with the former Ohio Secretary of State, explain the fraud of Eric Holder's opposition. ---JW]

Attorney General Eric Holder, who announced his resignation last Thursday (9/25), leaves a dismal legacy at the Justice Department.  Of all his legal innovations, one was especially pernicious: the demonizing of state attempts to ensure honest elections.

As a former U.S. attorney general under President Reagan, and a former Ohio secretary of state, we would like to say something that might strike some as obvious:

Those who oppose photo voter-ID laws and other election-integrity reforms are intent on making it easier to commit vote fraud.

That conclusion is inescapable, given the well-established evidence that voter-ID laws don't disenfranchise minorities or reduce minority voting, and in many instances enhance it, despite claims to the contrary by Mr. Holder and his allies.

As more states adopt such laws, the left has railed against them with increasing fury, ascribing racial animus to people who are trying to safeguard democratic integrity. But there's something even worse than name-calling:

THE ODDS FOR IMPEACHMENT ARE RISING

What do you get when you combine these three news stories?

Breitbart, Monday 8/25:  Obama to Enact Amnesty for Five Million Illegals Next Week
Fox, Yesterday 8/27: Al Qaeda Urges Bombing of Las Vegas
AP, Today 8/28:  Americans' Pessimism on Economy Has Grown

You get a perfect storm engulfing Democrats and the Zero Presidency on November 4.

The Boston Globe on Wednesday (8/27) ran this dog-bites-man headline:  Obama Amnesty Plan Could Hurt Democrats.  Ya think?  Maybe.  Could be.  Just might be.

There are 68 days until November 4.  That's several lifetimes long in politics.  Lots of time to prepare one or more "October Surprises," lots of ways a Black Swan event can come out of nowhere to change everything.

What's got everyone in DC weirded out is that Zero seems hell-bent to engineer an October Surprise foisted on his own party - literally creating political hell for his fellow Dems - and in early September no less.

Zero's Amnesty will give us the Senate (and, ironically, no further amnesties).  But what about impeachment?  That requires a Black Swan, for which the odds are rising.

THE PRESIDENT MUST RESIGN

Enough is enough.  I want this lying corrupt fascist out of the White House, and I don't want to give him 38 months to leave - 38 months in which he will relentlessly continue to destroy our economy and put our national security in gravest danger.

Fortunately, I am far from alone in this desire.  Scores of millions of Americans feel the same way.  And now, more have arrived on the battlefield.  The Millennials are joining us.

This week, Millennials have taken over the headlines with news of their rejection of Zero's Sleaze Presidency.  Millennials Abandon Obama is a headline denoting a generational tsunami.  It takes a while for kids to grow up, as we know from personal experience.  Now they've started to, and their teen-age crush on The Won is over.

This is a signal moment.  When Harvard University reports that 47% of young Americans between 18 and 29, and 52% between 18 and 25 want to "recall" Zero - as in resign, quit, step down, get out of here and go away - you have a real turning point.

The question now is, how do we max this turning point out?  How do we take the best advantage of this moment?

HOW POLITICAL AND PERSONAL SERENITY IS POSSIBLE

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

This is the famous Serenity Prayer. There are things you can control, and things you can't. If you're spending time on things you can't control, and not much time on things you can, you will become depressed and miserable.

It's almost guaranteed. This is a recipe for helplessness, and depression is a symptom of a sense of helplessness. This is one reason why we feel so miserable when we look at the political situation. The same applies to our personal lives.

Identifying what you can and cannot control makes you much more effective, much more happy and satisfied - and successful. So let's start identifying.

WINNING THE REVOLUTION RENDEZVOUS

Thanks to TTP general manager Miko, and TTPers like Mitch Tyree, the dates and the deal for the TTP Summer Rendezvous are set.

One of the most distinguished hotels in Colonial Williamsburg, the Williamsburg Hospitality House, will host the Winning the Revolution Rendezvous from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13.

Colonial Williamsburg  recreates the America of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.  Nearby Jamestown is where the settlement of America began in 1607.  And close by is Yorktown, where America achieved victory in its War of Independence in 1781.

It is an incredibly emotional experience to be at Surrender Field, where the British troops under Lord Cornwallis gave up their arms and surrendered to George Washington while the British band played "The World Turned Upside Down."  This is where free America was born, this was where our Revolution was won.

What more appropriate place could there be - and what more appropriate date than September 11 weekend - for TTPers to join together and commit to winning our American liberty once again?

THE HOAX OF THE HOLLOW MULLAHS

The mullahs in Tehran love hoaxes.  The most hilarious was the recent photo of a "new warplane," which on examination was a plastic toy model.

This was of a piece with the Photoshopped "evidence" of "new Iranian missiles," which was doubly deceptive: it was an old missile, not (as claimed) a new one, and there was only one of "them," not (as claimed) four launched simultaneously.

Alongside these hoaxes, designed to convince their people and the West that Iran is a mighty military power, Iranian leaders brag about their economic power as well. It's another hoax; every Iranian knows that the country is a basket case.

Yet our government plays right along.  We act in such a feckless way as to permit the mullahs to say to their people, "You see, the Americans are afraid of us. They will do nothing. You have no hope." And the hell of it is that the Islamic Republic is hollow, as its own behavior and its own results on the battlefield prove abundantly.

TREETOPS OF TECHNOLOGY

Let's skip across the treetops of technology this week.

Thanks to a Navy TTP reader who notified Bill Gregory who then notified me of a new technology via Google. Its called Goolgle-411, simply enough and it is pretty slick.

You pick up your cell phone and dial 800-Goog411 (466-4411) and you speak your location into the phone. Next tell the phone what you are looking for and voila, the business, restaurant, or site of interest is served up to you promptly free of charge...

... Some new digital cameras are showing up with an interesting addition to their already amazing qualities. Facial recognition software is being included with a number of models...

...Then there's this trio of tidbits, plus a glorious technological surprise...

OUR KIND OF ATTORNEY GENERAL

The current Attorney General for the State of Florida is Bill McCollum.  After being a Congressman representing Florida's 5th District for 20 years, he ran for Senate in 2004 only to be screwed by Karl Rove, who wanted Bush's buddy Mel Martinez.

Thus we have the pro-illegal alien Martinez in the Senate - but at least Florida lucked out to have McCollum bounce back to be elected its AG last year.  How lucky can be seen by a letter McCollum wrote this week (12/03) in his official capacity to the president of the University of Florida.

American universities are today dominated by professors and administrators who viciously attack any attempt at giving their students a pro-America education.    Finally, here is one state attorney general who has the guts to legally prosecute such viciousness.  America needs more Bill McCollums.

Here is his letter:

HOW TO FAX FROM YOUR PC

You call your attorney to ask her to review a contract, and she says, "Sure. Fax it over." "But it's a Microsoft Word document," you say. "Can't I just e-mail it to you? I don't have a fax machine." No, she prefers fax. Or, she says, if you'd rather, you can drop it in the mailbox or drive it over. Grrr!

But wait! You probably do have a fax machine and don't even realize it. It's right in your PC. You may have forgotten this if you've moved to broadband, but most computers still ship with fax modems. And Microsoft Windows XP includes fax software, although you may not have realized that either, since it's not part of the default installation. Fortunately, installing it is pretty painless.

Here's how to enable fax services.

Chapter Seven: QUETZACOATL

Chapter Seven: QUETZACOATL

Don Alonso was unlike any of her previous masters. True she had never been abused or raped either by her Xicalanca captors or the rulers of Pontochan. But Don Alonso exhibited a courtesy to her, treated her with a dignity, that the others had not. Was it because he recognized her royal birth, or did he and the other Spaniards treat women differently in general?

To her Pontochan masters, she didn’t really exist in a certain way. She had been invisible to them - an invisibility Malinali strove consciously to maintain. She did all she could to hide her beauty, for example. She didn’t walk straight, tall, and proudly - she compressed herself and slunk around the palace doing her chores.

She decided to abandon this shrunken invisibility with the Spaniards. She no longer wore her cloak over her head. Her bountiful long black hair was now free to glisten in the sun. She carried herself as her father taught, tall and proud, head high. She was never insolent and obediently did as she was asked without resentment. She could do this because Don Alonso always made requests of her, not dismissive demands. He treated her as an individual person, not an invisible non-entity.

Now being so clearly visible, Don Alonso could not help noticing Malinali’s beauty.

RULES ARE NOT LAWS: WHAT 2016 SHOULD BE ABOUT

The power to make laws rests wholly in Congress - at least that is what the Constitution says.  Yet who makes the "laws" in our federal system today?

Vast amounts of legislative power have been "delegated" to independent federal regulatory agencies like the Federal Communications Commission or to the president or his cabinet secretaries.

The sheer volume of these rules is mind-numbing.  Consider that in 2014, the year that just ended, 75,000 pages of new regulations were adopted by the Executive Branch, either by the Obama administration directly or through independent regulatory agencies.

This is in addition to the myriad executive orders the president gives to his various departments regarding how to administrate federal laws.

The imagined need for these rules is that congressional legislation cannot anticipate every situation or change that requires new regulations.  That is true, of course, only if we accept the underlying premise that the federal government ought to be directly involved in almost everything we do.

Abolishing the completely illegal and unconsitutional scam of legislative delegation to unelected bureaucracies should be a major GOP campaign theme in 2016.

HALF-FULL REPORT 01/02/15

A brand new year.  Is it time for predictions?  OK, here's one you can count on.  There will be a whiteness of Black Swans.

Yes, a "whiteness" is the collective noun for swans, even when they are black (the subspecies Cygnus atratus in Australia).  These days, a capitalized "Black Swan" refers not to a bird but an event - something that comes sailing into history right out of the blue and bites us right in the tuches.

The worst, most negative Black Swan in modern American history continues in 2015 - the Zero Presidency.  Interestingly, the Curse of Zero will test my next prediction:  that whatever and how many Black Swans bite the world this year, America will sustain them - even triumph over them - better than anywhere else.

Now why would that be?...

It's also time to introduce a new feature in the HFR.  Most every week, I'll try to include a useful tip on health & fitness.  None of us are getting progressively younger, but we can all do any number of things to slow our progress down in the opposite direction.  Here's the HFR's first entry...

We're going to close with... Perspective Time.  Just to make you feel good.
