THE COUNTRY THAT DOES EXIST

somaliland_map.jpg

Berbera, Somaliland.  I originally called this place the country that doesn't exist, because no other country in the world will diplomatically recognize it as a sovereign nation even though it's been so for 20 years.

Nonetheless, this is a real country with a sovereign functioning government.  This is no pariah-outlaw state.  That's Somalia, the truly non-existent failed state that Somaliland seceded from.  The story of Somaliland is a heroic saga, epically inspirational.  Let me tell you the story.

REGIME CHANGE IN KOREA

Note that neither "North" nor "South" is prefixed to Korea, for we are talking about coming regime change in both

The current ruling anti-American, anti-capitalist, pro-appeasement party ruling South Korea is about to be replaced by its opposite:  pro-American, pro-capitalist, anti-appeasement.

Its leaders are determined to precipitate the collapse of North Korea's communist tyranny.  They plan to do it with the help of the Communist Chinese.  And George Bush.

RICE AND “REASONABLES”

She's a Renaissance woman, whose talents run from scholarship to music and sport. But in this interview with Bret Stephens of the Wall St. Journal, Condoleezza Rice often seems oddly detached from the life-and-death quality of the war against the terror masters.

Indeed, she doesn't even call it a war, and the things she says about it are sometimes striking - headline quality remarks - but more often very peculiar.

To begin with, she doesn't expect us to win this "battle, if you will, or a struggle," during the Bush presidency. Her mission for the next two years is not victory, but to put "some fundamentals in place."

I wish the interviewer had asked her to define these "fundamentals," so that we could better judge whether or not they are worth the lives and limbs of our children.

WHAT ARE ADWARE AND SPYWARE, REALLY?

Symantec Corporation said recently that it found itself forced to start dealing with spyware and adware simply because users of Symantec antivirus programs really couldn't tell the difference between a system infected with malware (virus, Trojan, worm, and so forth) and a system infested with adware or spyware.

For the past 3 months, nearly one out of every five calls for help to Symantec ended up involving spyware or adware rather than what they call malware. To The Point readers know that I’ve been using the opposite terminology. Viruses, trojans and worms were in one category, and spyware and adware I called malware.

These days, virus experts recognize that certain threats should rightly be called blended, in that they combine virus, worm, and sometimes even trojan characteristics within a single executable.

Obama Huilo!

I had to save this for the HFR instead of shoehorning it in to Putin Huilo! on Wednesday.

And yes he is.  He is not just a "hapless putz" as Andrew Klaman claims.  The Obamahuilo is opening the floodgates of our border with Mexico on purpose - the purpose being revenge and spite.  He wants TB and other diseases brought by illegals to spread.

He wants to do damage to us more than ever, now that Americans have proved themselves not worthy of him, in having the inexcusably immoral temerity to think he's the worst US president rather than the best.

As a pathological narcissist, his rejection by the American people is proof they need to be punished for not recognizing his magnificence.  As Clint Eastwood put it:

{youtube}CZstgDZoLkA{/youtube}

Even Dems agree, sensing public outrage over Zero's "Katrina Moment."  Dem Congresscritters don't get more libtard partisan than Steny Hoyer, but even he's saying deport the illegals:  "The US cannot be expected to give sanctuary to every single child in the world."

So let's start making this crisis into an opportunity.

DO YOU WANT MORE GOVERNMENT OR MORE PROSPERITY?

Do you think there would be more jobs, less poverty and higher real incomes if government was 60 percent or 18 percent of gross domestic product?

Fortunately, a global economic-growth experiment has been underway for more than a half-century. Some countries have opted for the big-government model, others for the small-government model. Based on the data, the small-government crowd wins.

Periodically, as new data becomes available, I revisit the topic of how big or small government should be. Many on the left in the United States want a big government like they have in France, which they think will be fairer and provide better services.

There are success metrics, such as real per-capita incomes, economic growth, job-creation rates and life expectancy to give us a good indication of what works and does not work.

This table gives us recent data about how well 10 rich countries are doing:

“WE NEED TO ABOLISH THE IRS”

You may have seen the headlines that yesterday (3/05) at the CPAC conference in Washington, I called for the abolishment of the Internal Revenue Service.  It's true.  I said "The IRS should go the way of the dodo."

The IRS is currently considering new rules to limit the free speech of the very same groups it illegally targeted. In short, the Obama Administration is trying to do through regulatory fiat what it was unable to legally do before: limit the First Amendment rights of Americans.

Below  is the letter I sent to Attorney General Eric Holder calling for a special prosecutor to investigate IRS's illegal targeting of conservative groups.

My speech at CPAC was entitled How We Win.  I explained that "If you want to lose elections, stand for nothing."

By contrast, you win elections by standing for principles and believing that there is a better tomorrow.

How do we inspire people? Number one we tell the truth.... The truth is Washington is corrupt. As more and more people make great wealth in Washington, young people, single moms, and small business owners suffer.  Real change is changing the corruption that is here in Washington, D.C.

HOW DO WE FIX AMERICA?

I must admit that I was prepared to be skeptical when I started reading Mark Levin's The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic.  Our country's problem is not the Constitution, it's a government that disobeys it, that uses every method of fascist trickery to distort and get around it.

The solution, I thought, is to somehow force the federalies to stop being outlaws - for that's what we have now, an illegitimate outlaw government - and start obeying the Constitution we already have, instead of changing it.

America was blessed at its inception with a founding legal structure that has never been surpassed in history up to the present day for enabling the flourishing of its citizenry while preventing tyranny.  Its distortion and corruption by all four branches of the federal government - executive, legislative, judicial, and bureaucratic - is what needs to be fixed, not the structure itself.

Now, after I read the book, I must admit that Levin is a persuasive guy.  Not convincing, but certainly persuasive.  Let's talk about where he hits the target, where he misses, and to what extent - if any - does he explain how we fix America.

MAKING BOEHNER’S BONES

As the Loughner Lefties at the New York Times realized they jumped the shark in blaming the Arizona Massacre on Sarah Palin and the Tea Party Right, they smoothly shifted their strategy yesterday (1/12).

In a transparent ploy to monkey wrench the 112th Congress' program to dismantle ObamaCare and other Dem disasters, the NYT is now claiming that Boehner & Co must "play a less partisan role," and not "allow the House to slide back into confrontational politics."  Translation:  Republicans need to surrender to the Democrats.

And Boehner's response?  As Eliza Doolittle said to Professor Henry Higgins, "Not bloody likely!"  Zero and the Dems (and the Enemedia) are going to get the shock of their lives when they learn what Boehner has planned for them.

Get ready for this, folks, for it's going to knock the polka dots off your undies.  This is going to make Boehner's bones.

WHAT A BEACH PARTY!

sarasota_sunset

Sunset on the beach at Sarasota, Florida, with good friends and an adult beverage.  Can't beat that, especially when those friends are fellow TTPers.  All of us sure did have a good time.  Here's a synopsis of what we did and what we learned.

STILL HOPE FOR EUROPE

For those doom-and-gloom pessimists convinced of the inevitability of the Islamization of Europe, here's a wonderfully cheery news bulletin:  Moslem imams are fleeing Holland in droves.

Of course, the BBC reports this as proof of Dutch Islamophobia.  The tuth is that the Dutch are finally waking up to the threat of Islamofascism in their midst.  There are over one million Moslems in Holland now, and in cities like Rotterdam, well over a third of the children are Moslem.

Now, if the Dutch could just get regular Moslem immigrants to follow their imams out of the country...

Yet there is far better news in France.  The fate of Europe will be decided there in the presidential election on April 22, with a runoff if necessary on May 6.  The "Sego-Sarko" race is the most important political event in the world for 2007.

THE REAL WAR ……ONE MORE TIME

Watching the war in Lebanon and listening to the debate about it is just like watching the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and its attendant debate. Israelis are demanding the resignation of Olmert, just as Americans are demanding the head of Bush.

Israeli military experts, real and self-proclaimed, are explaining how the Lebanon war could have been won if only the ground campaign had started earlier, or had been more ambitious. American strategists of varying competence are explaining how the Iraq war could have been won, if only there were more boots on the ground, or if only a different strategy had been employed, or if only the Baathist army had been kept intact.

I think it's nonsense. Both campaigns and both debates suffer from the same narrow focus, the same failure of strategic vision, when the war itself - the real war - is far wider.

EASIER DIGITAL MEMORIES

Digital pictures get stored on a computer hard drive or CD, and can be backed up several times to ensure that they are preserved for time immemorial. Digital photos are also fungible; you can easily change them around to reflect a "better" reality (such as eliminating spilled coffee by either cropping it out or waving your digital photo editor's "magic wand" tool).

But that only works for people who are adept at using the somewhat-threatening looking tools in programs like Photoshop - assuming they are willing to shell out the big bucks to buy it. Not to mention the steep learning curve, that will discourage all but graphics artists.

There are cheaper and simpler  alternatives that work just as well as Photoshop.

HALF-FULL REPORT 07/04/14

Welcome to the Happy Fourth of July HFR!

Today is when we celebrate the Birth of America - mankind's most successful nation, that has created more freedom and prosperity for more human beings than any society, culture, or country in the history of this planet or any other.

Those who disagree are cordially invited to read the full text of America's founding document adopted and signed by America's Founders on this day 238 years ago, the most moral political document in history, The Declaration of Independence.  For it is its stated principles that created our nation.

In fact, it would be worthwhile for all of us, before the barbeque, beer, and fireworks later today, to gather in a quiet place with friends, family, and loved ones to read the Declaration aloud, to have its moral genius resonate in our souls.

And when you read aloud its 27 examples of "repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States," you will no doubt recognize that many of them are being purposefully perpetrated today - with the same direct object - by America's current tyrant, King Zero.

The good news is that he is not King Zero I, as in "the First."  There will never be another, a "the Second."  This Fourth of July HFR will be devoted to discussing why.

WHY PUTIN IS CAUSING WAR IN UKRAINE

Most wars result from at least one side overestimating its chances of success and one or more of the sides not having a clear "endgame."

Russian President Vladimir Putin has a clear goal, which can be discerned from his own statements and actions, and from discussions with those who know him well. It is to leave as his legacy the re-establishment of the Russian Empire.

The Russian Empire existed from 1721, when Peter the Great proclaimed it, until its collapse in 1917. At its high point in 1866, the Russian Empire included all of modern-day Russia plus Alaska, Finland, the Baltic nations, much of present-day Poland, parts of other Eastern European countries, the Central Asia "Stans," part of Mongolia, and the shores of the Caspian Sea.

Mr. Putin, a master of strategy and timing, sees that he has a 2-year window of opportunity to grab or control much of the former Russian Empire. He correctly sees President Obama as weak and indecisive, and hence unwilling to stand in his way -- giving him a window before Americans likely elect a stronger president.

And he must start in Ukraine.  Here is why.
