Alaska’s Frank Murkowski has my nomination for the most courageous governor in the US. Sick and tired of spineless Washington Republicans unable to overcome the religious worship of the Alaska tundra by Democrats and Eco-Fascists, Murkowski has announced oil and gas lease sales for offshore drilling in the Beaufort Sea off the coast of ANWR (the sacred and holy Alaska National Wildlife Refuge).
It was over harlequin ducks that we bonded. Ten years ago, at a meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the structure of DNA in Monterey, California, I bumped into the German biologist Ingo Potrykus watching harlequin ducks in the harbor before breakfast. Shared enthusiasm for bird watching broke the ice.
I knew of him, of course. He had been on the cover of Time magazine for potentially solving one of the world's great humanitarian challenges. Four years before, with his colleague Peter Beyer, he had added three genes to the 30,000 in rice to help to prevent Vitamin A Deficiency or VAD, one of the most preventable causes of morbidity and mortality in poor countries with rice-dominated diets.
Had Ingo or I known that ten years later this rice would still not be available to the poor, that a systematic campaign of denigration against it by the behemoths of the environmental movement, especially Greenpeace, would be consuming lawyers' fees while perhaps 20 million children had died in the meantime through vitamin A deficiency, he and I would have felt sick with horror that morning.

It was linked to a Weekly Standard story on Zero's considering an Executive Order to effect gun control without legislation from Congress. It gave CommieMedia libtards the vapors, as chronicled by the Washington Examiner. They can't stand it whenever someone reveals they worship an Evil Messiah.
Yet, in truth, there is in fact an enormous difference between Zero and Hitler-Stalin. Hitler and Stalin were both rabidly crazed nationalists, determined at whatever cost to conquer other peoples and subject them to Germany or Russia.
Zero, on the other hand, is a rabidly crazed anti-nationalist, determined at whatever cost to destroy his own country. He is filled with hatred and contempt for America, as neither Hitler nor Stalin were towards their own countries.
Zero is at the extreme end of American liberalism, which has always been characterized, at a minimum, by embarrassment. Liberals are embarrassed to be Americans, embarrassed over the very existence of America and in a state of constant apology for it - look what we did to the Indians, our Founders owned slaves, we're racist imperialist capitalist war-mongers, blah-blah-blah.

In his latest lecture to the Middle East, an ideologically purblind President Obama has again failed to acknowledge the facts on the ground, much to the detriment of American and Israeli strategic interests.
First, the President continues to confound "popular uprisings" with America's strategic interests. This fails to account for the inherent danger that such movements can be usurped - if not instigated and abetted by - radical elements bent upon usurping them for anti-American purposes, as is increasingly evident in Egypt.
Secondly, the President's ill-conceived and incoherent policy and mission creep in Libya has now resulted in the administration's diminished willingness to promptly call for Syria's Assad to exit power; ergo, we witness the Obama Administration being more resolute in precipitously demanding the removal of an ally in Egypt than of an enemy in Syria - let alone in Iran.
Succinctly, the removal of a murderous terrorist regime that stole a popular uprising in 1979, and its indigenous replacement with a true, free, anti-terrorist republic, will serve as an example and deterrent to the present movements being perverted by would be despots.
Such strategic celerity, though, is lacking in the Obama Administration. For, as is becoming abundantly clear, its missteps and missed opportunities stem from the President's inconstant commitment to the strategic partnership that founds America's Middle Eastern policies for our national security and regional peace: the American-Israeli alliance.
Tirana, Albania. I had a private dinner with an extraordinary man last night (10/09) - just the two of us with one of his key advisors. Albania is very fortunate to have Dr. Sali Berisha (he's a physician with a specialty in heart surgery) as its Prime Minister.
He's a man of immense erudition and learning who is street wise in the ways of the world, having dealt with every major leader on the planet for years. The country he admires above all others is America.
In this, he speaks for the great majority of Albanians. Albania is probably the most pro-American country on earth today.
Yet it was a strange and scary experience to hear him relate the recent history of Albania - for at one point he seemed to be describing that of America's instead. What I really hoped he wasn't describing was the history of America's immediate future.

I might as well confess upfront - I have misgivings about writing this. It's because a good number of TTPers, several of whom I've come to know and like personally via our Rendezvous, are passionate "Paulistas," or advocates of Ron Paul (R-TX) and his campaign for the presidency.
My misgivings come not from fear of offending them but my regard and respect for them. They are decent, sincere folks who truly love their country. They are also smart and not easily conned, politically or otherwise. So there has to be a lot in Paul's message that's worth their passion.
That said, I'm no Paulista, and it's about time I explained why.

Excel did the same thing for spreadsheet applications.
So when Grover Norquist, head of Americans for Tax Reform, whispers in Karl Rove’s and George Bush’s ears this week at the convention, let’s hope they recognize a political killer ap when they hear one.
