OUR HOTHOUSE FLOWER CHILDREN IN COLLEGE

"Universities emulate greenhouses where fragile young adults are coddled as if they were hothouse orchids," says Victor Davis Hanson, who taught the classics at Fresno State University. "Hypersensitive students are warned about ‘micro-aggressions' that in the real world would be imperceptible." Many colleges have established "designated areas where traumatized students can be shielded from supposedly hurtful or unwelcome language that should not exist in a just and fair world," he says. By contrast, Columbia University Prof. Todd Gitlin recalls when he was in college years ago having to watch the Nazi propaganda film "Triumph of the Will" in a sociology class. "The pedagogical tactic was precisely to produce discomfort," he said. "Discomfort was the crucible for a 'teachable moment.'  Universities are not fallout shelters. Attention to the appalling causes disturbance. Deal with it. You're at college to be disturbed." So what do we do with this -- how do we get college kids to stop being hothouse flowers?  Here's one way to start.

A SOUTHERN CROSS TO BEAR

The Confederate battle flag had nothing whatever to do with the gruesome murders Dylann Roof committed in the Emanuel AME Zion church in Charleston, South Carolina. But Gov. Nikki Haley is right to seek its removal from a monument to Confederate soldiers on the grounds of the state capitol. Conservative CNN commentator Erick Erickson explains why. And, as Gov. Haley noted, "the hate-filled murderer" and others of his ilk have appropriated the Southern Cross as a symbol of white supremacy. It no longer matters that for many Southerners who followed it into battle, it wasn't. Robert E. Lee was more critical of slavery than were Union generals U.S. Grant and William Tecumseh Sherman. Lee was against secession. He fought for the South because he could not fight against Virginia, his home state. We should all thank God the South lost. But it is false and malicious to assert all Confederates were virulent racists, akin to Nazis.

INDIANA PROVES LIBERALS ARE IGNORANT FASCISTS

Given the furor that's erupted, you'd think Indiana was the first state - not the 20th -- to pass a law to protect freedom of conscience. The Indiana law would permit discrimination against gays, said Apple CEO Tim Cook in the Washington Post. Singer Miley Cyrus and actor Ashton Kutcher said much the same thing, more crudely. Apple "will never tolerate discrimination," Mr. Cook said. Apple does business in 4 of the 10 countries where homosexuality is punishable by death; builds many of its products in China, where Christians are persecuted. But Mr. Cook is by no means the only hypocrite among critics of Indiana's law: Illinois passed its RFRA in 1998. State Sen. Barack Obama voted for it.  Indiana's law, like those in the other 19 states, mimics the 1993 federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which Congress approved nearly unanimously and proudly signed into law by Bill Clinton. "The anti-Indiana backlash is a perfect storm of hysteria and legal ignorance, supercharged by the particularly censorious self-righteousness of the Left," said National Review Editor Rich Lowry.  It's yet more evidence that lefties aren't "liberals" at all - they're fascists.

OBAMA IS A GHOUL

Dylann Roof, 21, sat in a Bible study in the Emanuel AME Zion Church in Charleston, South Carolina for nearly an hour before murdering 9 of the parishioners he told police had been "so nice to him." As most of us were recoiling in horror from such evil, "progressives" - pouncing like vultures on fresh killed carrion - politicized this awful crime. "This type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries," said President Barack Hussein Obama. Since 2001, there've been 14 shootings with as many or more victims in Norway, France, Switzerland, Britain, Germany, Finland, Serbia, Brazil and Mexico. He knew this, yet he used Roof's lunacy to promote his Hate America racist agenda -- and to promote gun-control laws for the purpose of disarming citizens.

THE CONTINUING INSANITY OF OBAMACARE

Monday (3/23) was the fifth anniversary of passage of Obamacare. Seven Democrat senators marked it by asking for delay of yet another provision of the law. Putting companies with 51 to 100 employees in the costlier "small group" market could be "harmful and disruptive," they said in a letter to HHS Secretary Silvia Burwell. The uninsured should be given another chance to avoid the fine for not having health insurance, three House Democrats said in a letter to President Obama in February. "If ObamaCare is so great, why do Democrats repeatedly try to hide its more unpleasant features?" Investors Business Daily asked then. Here are the lies President Obama told, which he assured us were true, before the law was passed:

TWO SCANDALS EXPOSE HOW SINISTER IS THE LIBTARD MEDIA

Two stories dominated the news this week. One is really, really important. The other is frivolous. Of course, the news media focused more attention on the frivolous story. Hackers stole sensitive information from databases of the Office of Personnel Management on 4 to 14 million federal employees, who now could have their identities stolen, or worse. This was a cyber Pearl Harbor which "wrecked American espionage," said John Schindler, a former counterintelligence officer for the National Security Council.  Actually, it was no real hack at all, but we'll get to that. The news media gave more attention to Rachel Dolezal, who was president of the NAACP chapter in Spokane and a part time professor of Afro-American Studies at Eastern Washington University until her parents outed her as being 100 percent white. Conservatives chortle as liberals, who said Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner is a woman because he/she thinks he/she is, perform verbal somersaults to make pseudo-distinctions between him/her and Ms. Dolezal. Once, journalists told us what we needed to know as well as what we liked to hear. It's easier to write about Rachel Dolezal than about the implications of a cyber Pearl Harbor.  But there's another, truly sinister reason.

THE CHURCHILL OF OUR TIME

Normally what politicians say matters much less than what they do.  But sometimes at a critical moment in history, a great speech by a great leader can bolster resolve to do what must be done.

“Our policy… “is to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime,” said Winston Churchill on May 13,1940, three days after he’d replaced Neville Chamberlain as prime minister.

“We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender,” he said June 4.  After the war, in 1946 Sir Winston warned that “from Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across (Europe).”

Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint session of Congress Tuesday (3/3) was Churchillian. He is the Churchill of our time. The contrast between Bibi and Obama could not be more stark.

HOW TO REFORM HEALTH CARE

Here's how to give the poor access to good health care without clobbering middle class Americans or  taxpayers. When I wrote this, Jack Wheeler reminded me of his Health Freedom vs. Health Fascism from May of 2009.  It's not surprising, given that we think alike, that our "here's how" lists are so similar.   Here's mine.  Jack's is appended below for comparison.  Specifics aside, one thing on which all conservatives should be able to agree is that the antidote to Obamacare health fascism is getting the government out of the way of health freedom. Comments on the Forum will be appreciated.  And feel free to add your own suggestions on how to expand health freedom in America.

OBAMA’S LEGACY OF LOOTERS

Of 1,265 people killed in St. Louis between 2003 and 2012, 1,138 (89.9%) were black.  90% of them were killed by other blacks. Thirty two of them were killed by police officers; 22 of those 32 (1.93% of 1,138) by white cops. To assert - as the Obama administration and so many in the news media have - that racially motivated shootings by police are commonplace, and this was one of them - is vile. Even more despicable are those who've made excuses for what took place after the grand jury refused to indict Officer Wilson for a crime it was clear he hadn't committed.  Rioters and looters - who destroyed mostly black businesses and burned down a black church - aren't "protesters" who are "trying to make their voices heard."  They're criminals. And they are Obama's legacy.

THE LIBTARD MEDIA’S FACEPLANT SMEAR ON RUBIO

"A Hillary Clinton match-up with Marco Rubio is a scary thought for Democrats," the New York Times reported May 22. Democrats with bylines are frightened too, hit pieces in the New York Times and the Washington Post indicate. Marco Rubio has gotten 4 traffic tickets since 1997, the Times reported June 5. One every 4 to 5 years may be below average for Florida. So reporters Alan Rappeport and Steve Eder beefed up their story by adding in the 13 tickets his wife got. What bearing does Jeanette Rubio's lead foot have on her husband's fitness for office? The Times' shady move promptly got the ridicule it deserved. "Taken together, Marco Rubio and Napoleon conquered most of Europe," tweeted John Ekdahl.   "Taken together, Marco Rubio and Pontius Pilate agreed to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ," tweeted Steve Klein. It's so gratifying to see the libtard media do a total faceplant and subject themselves to merciless ridicule.

THE ABYSS BETWEEN THE LIBERAL ELITE AND NORMAL AMERICANS

Little illustrates more clearly the large and expanding gulf between ordinary Americans and liberal elitists than their responses to two movies out this month. "American Sniper," the Clint Eastwood film based on the autobiography of Chris Kyle, the former Navy SEAL who is credited with more confirmed kills (160) than any other sniper in U.S. history, was a box office smash when it opened last weekend. Mr. Kyle left the Navy in 2009. A month after his autobiography was published in 2012, he was murdered at a firing range in Texas by a former Marine he'd befriended, who apparently was suffering from PTSD. Taya Kyle, Chris Kyle's widow, said actor Bradley Cooper and the film's writers and producers have portrayed him accurately. NRO's David French explains why the movie is a  cultural game-changer that millions of normal Americans are flocking to see.  Chris Kyle is the true American war hero of our day, as Alvin York was for WWI and Audie Murphy for WWII. And that's why liberal elitists hate it.

HILLARY’S MULLIGAN

"I'll restore faith in the country we all love," Hillary Clinton pledged at a fund-raiser in Manhattan June 1. To find out which country that is, we'll have to check the list of donors to the Clinton Foundation, tweeted actor and former GOP Sen. Fred Thompson. The Clinton campaign was awful eight years ago. Ready for Hillary 2016 hasn't been an improvement. Things have gone so poorly since Ms. Clinton announced her candidacy April 12 she plans to take a mulligan. Hillary will relaunch her campaign with a rally on Roosevelt Island this Saturday (6/13). By choosing that day without consulting the locals, Team Clinton forced cancellation of a long scheduled event for children, which generated bad press and irritated community leaders. She's dodged questions about scandals, but acting like a queen on the way to her coronation reinforces impressions she's arrogant and out of touch. And even her toadies in the news media are irritated by her refusal to answer their questions. Hence the mulligan. Here's why it may not do her any good.

REPUBLICANS MUST FIGHT THE EPIDEMIC OF VOTER FRAUD

According to data collected by Harvard University's Cooperative Congressional Election Study, more than 700,000 non-citizens may be voting in our elections.
It's a mathematical certainty that votes illegally cast elected Sen. Al Franken in Minnesota in 2008, re-elected Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va, this year.
Guerrilla journalist James O’Keefe videotaped Democrats and allied groups in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia offering to help register those they knew were ineligible.
Voting machines in Illinois, Maryland and Virginia recorded votes cast for GOP candidates as votes for their opponents. These were “calibration errors,” officials said. Oddly, “calibration errors” never changed a Democrat vote to Republican, occurred only where election officials were Democrats.
The tsunami of fraud exposes as false and vile the Democrat charge ballot security measures are “voter suppression.”

HOW CAN ANYONE THINK THAT THIS WOMAN SHOULD BE PRESIDENT?

The Clinton Foundation "received as much as $26.4 million in previously undisclosed payments" in 2014, the Washington Post reported last week (5/21). That's in addition to "millions" in foreign donations for the years 2010-2013, but not reported until Reuters asked about them in April. Which were in addition to millions in foreign donations the Clinton Foundation acknowledged after the Washington Post asked about them in February. Foreign contributions to the Clinton Foundation - and Bill's speaking fees - jumped while Hillary was secretary of state.  This is all just for openers. There's a lot more. Mrs. Clinton is a pathologically greedy corrupt liar with a record barren of achievement.  How can anybody with a modicum of intelligence and patriotism think she should be president?

TURKEY IS ON THE SIDE OF THE ISIS TERRORISTS

Muhammad Hamzah Khan, 19, planned to fly to Turkey, then cross the border into Syria to join the terrorists of the Islamic State. But the FBI arrested him at O'Hare airport Oct. 4. Ankara has "allowed its Syria border to become a two-way ‘jihadist highway,'" said Turkish journalist Kadri Gursel. Most of up to 12,000 foreign fighters got to IS via Turkey, where some wounded jihadis have received free medical care. "Turkey's support was vital for the jihadists in getting in and out of the country," wrote Orhan Kemal Cengiz in the newspaper Zaman. "Turkey paved the way for us," an IS fighter, in Ankara for medical treatment, told the newspaper Aydinlik. The Turks also "provided the bulk of ISIS' funds, logistics, training and arms," said Middle East expert Daniel Pipes.   Turkey supported Jabhat al-Nusra, (the al Qaida affiliate President Barack Obama called "the Khorasan Group"), said Francis Ricciardone, our ambassador there until June. By "Ankara," "Turkey," and "the Turks," they mean the Islamist government of Recep Erdogan, prime minister since 2003, president since July, whose policies are as controversial within Turkey as are Mr. Obama's in ours.

CANCEL THE DEBATES — AND THE LYING SWINE MODERATORS

More than a dozen Republicans are likely to run for president. Nearly all are serious, accomplished people who deserve a hearing. But it may be difficult to find a stage large enough to accommodate podiums for them all when they "debate." I put "debate" in quotes, because with so many participants, real debate is impossible. It could become a farce that would reflect poorly on the candidates and the GOP. The herd won't thin much until delegation selection begins in January. The Republican National Committee plans to hold a debate a month beginning in August. That's a big mistake. Fox News and CNN, slated to moderate the first two debates, say they'll limit participation to the top 10, as determined by national polls. That's hard to do fairly. And 10 is still at least twice as many as there should be to have a meaningful debate. The RNC should cancel all debates scheduled for this year, replace them with candidate forums to be held two weekends a month, beginning in August or September.  Now about those Lying Swine moderators...

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN LIBERAL MORAL RELATIVISM MEETS ISLAMIC EVIL?

I can't imagine how a father could contemplate killing his ten year old daughter because a mullah had raped her in a mosque, but I know it is evil. It is evil, too, to behead or bury alive helpless people because they are of a different faith; to blow up little girls because they went to school. But many prominent liberals have criticized Islamists only when making false and invidious comparisons between them and Christians, or Republicans. Liberals tend to conflate Islamists with Moslems generally, which is like conflating Germans with Nazis, Italians with the Mafia. It's as puzzling as it is appalling so many liberals - who trumpet their support for women's rights and gay rights - are unable or unwilling to distinguish between the majority and the Islamists. "Islamist" is a racist term, according to "media critic" Kay Sokolowski. Which is preposterous, because Islam is a religion with adherents in virtually every ethnic group. Ignorance goes a long way toward explaining why liberals believe such nonsense. But ignorance alone can't explain the willful blindness of so many to the evil proudly displayed by ISIS, Boko Haram, Hamas and other Islamist groups.

WHAT WE KNOW NOW IS IRAQ IS OBAMA’S FAULT, NOT BUSH’S

The fall of Ramadi, Iraq's 4th largest city, 64 miles from Baghdad, to the vicious terrorists of ISIS has renewed interest in an old controversy. "Knowing what we know now," invading Iraq was a mistake, say most GOP presidential candidates --including the brother of the president who ordered it. The sudden interest in what GOP candidates think about the decision to invade Iraq is an effort by the Lying Swine to blame George W. Bush for what's happened since he left office.  What President Bush was falsely accused of doing, President Obama has done. The hideous debacle in Iraq today lies at Zero's feet, not W's.

THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WORLD’S STUPIDEST WAR

It was 100 years ago this week that the "Guns of August" sounded at the beginning of what almost certainly was the most pointless war in the history of humankind. And until World War II, of which it was the primary cause, the "Great War," as it was known at the time, was the bloodiest in history. About 9 million soldiers and 7 million civilians were killed between Aug. 4, 1914 and Nov. 8, 1918. The world in August, 1914 was very different from the one we live in. There were just 62 sovereign states  then, compared to 196 today. Most of Africa and Asia were divided up among European empires, of which the German, Russian and Austro-Hungarian were ruled by kings. Virtually all of the Middle East was ruled by a Turkish caliph in Istanbul. Nearly all of our geopolitical troubles today stem from the Great War and its immediate aftermath. Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany (1859-1941) was the grandson of Queen Victoria (1819-1901), first cousin to King George V, second cousin to Czar Nicholas II of Russia (1868-1918), first cousin to his wife, Czarina Alix of Hesse. More of German than of Russian descent, Czar Nicholas was also a first cousin of King George V, and of the kings of Norway and Greece. Their relationships didn't prevent these monarchs from blundering into a war none of them wanted, or from continuing it to the ruin of their countries after the expectations each had for a quick victory were dashed.

TIME TO DERAIL AMTRAK SUBSIDIES

An Amtrak train bound for New York May 12 derailed a few minutes after leaving Philadelphia, killing 8, injuring more than 200 of 243 passengers and crew. The crash could have been prevented if more had been spent on infrastructure, journalists speculated  before investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board reached the site. The train was going more than twice the speed limit of 50 mph as it entered a sharp curve at Frankford Junction, NTSB investigators said. The train sped up as it entered the curve. Positive Train Control - which forces trains to slow if the operator ignores speed limits - was installed along that section of track, but wasn't turned on, Amtrak said. Amtrak is getting $1.4 billion this fiscal year. Republicans want to reduce that by $200 million, but propose no cuts in the portion of its budget that funds safety. Democrats imply "budget cuts" were to blame even though cuts not yet made couldn't possibly be responsible. Their ghoulish demagoguery diverts attention from the misplaced priorities and (in)competence of Amtrak's management.

THE SATANIC EVIL OF JEW HATRED

Starvation has claimed the lives of 128 people - 18 of them children or babies - in the Palestinian refugee camp since the conflict began. But the Yarmouk camp is in Syria, where images of atrocities go viral only when misrepresented as coming from Gaza, so the world has paid little attention to their suffering. "My Twitter and Facebook feeds would have me believe that the only noteworthy military conflict in the world today is that between Israel and Hamas," said Jonathan Messing of the Stanford Business School. "Either many of you care about war only when it involves a Jew holding a gun, or you are woefully unaware of what else is going on in the world," Mr. Messing said. At the time he wrote, about 170,000 had died in ongoing violence in Syria; 600 in Gaza. "It must be so awkward having to check whether the dead child is from Gaza or Syria before deciding whether to be morally outraged," tweeted Marc Lynch, director of the Institute for Middle East Studies at George Washington University. The sequence of events triggered by the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers reminds Clarice Feldman that "Providence isn't just a city in Rhode Island."

THE “WHITE PRIVILEGE” SCAM IS ANTI-WHITE RACISM

"White masculinity is THE problem for America's colleges," said Saida Grundy, professor of sociology and Afro-American Studies at Boston University, in an indiscreet tweet. Whites have had it better than peoples of color, men have had it better than women, so white male students should be made to "check their privilege," say many college administrators, professors and students - chiefly those in ethnic and gender studies. The irony of arguably the most sheltered, cosseted and subsidized among us demanding that others "check their privilege" is lost upon them. What they call "privilege" is really "a consequence of hard work, of delaying gratification and of sacrifice," said Art Schlichter, a retired Army officer turned trial lawyer. "If we have privilege, it was earned at Bunker Hill, Gettysburg and Normandy," he said. It's a function of character, not of "skin tone or the number of vowels in your name." Let's face it -- "white privilege" is a guilt-mongering racist scam.

HALF-FULL REPORT 04/17/15

Russia will lift its ban on the sale of anti-aircraft missiles to Iran, Vladimir Putin announced Monday (4/13). That will hugely complicate an Israeli air strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee reported out unanimously Tuesday a bill to give Congress the right to impose sanctions on Iran if the administration's deal lacks adequate safeguards. But no bill that has the support of so many Democrats can be all good. A few hours after President Obama announced Tuesday he would remove Cuba from the State Department's list of nations which sponsor terror, a Cuban-supported terror group murdered 10, wounded 17 in an attack on a military base in Colombia. ISIS is conducting an offensive on the provincial capital of Ar Ramadi, Iraq's 4th largest city. The situation is "way worse than we've been told," said LTC Allen West. Al Qaida has seized control of a major airport, an oil terminal, and a major military base in Yemen. Hillary Clinton has agreed to testify before the Benghazi Committee, Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-SC, told radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt Wednesday, but he won't schedule her appearance until the committee has all relevant documents. Hillary wiped her private email server clean in part because it was "packed full" of missives to and from her lesbian lovers, said the National Enquirer. Hillary announced her candidacy for president Sunday with a tweet and an insipid video. There were lots of glitches in the rollout, but she is campaigning exactly as an unlikeable candidate with stale, unpopular ideas, a record devoid of accomplishment, and a closet full of scandals ought to campaign. Marco Rubio threw his sombrero into the ring Tuesday. He has the most upside potential of any GOP candidate, many think, because the contrast with the PIAPS is so vivid.

THE VA SCANDAL KEEPS GROWING

More than 1,000 vets may have died over the last decade because of delayed or improper care, Sen. Tom Coburn, R-OK, a physician, charged in a lengthy report Tuesday (6/24).
Drug dealing, theft and even murder are “pervasive” at VA facilities, he said.
Many VA nurses spend their days working on union activities, not caring for patients, Sen. Coburn said. Because it’s all but impossible to fire them, an increasing number of VA employees don’t bother to come to work at all.
The coverup of waiting lists “is just the tip of the iceberg, reflecting a perverse culture within the department where veterans are not always the priority and data and employees are manipulated to maintain an appearance that all is well,” Sen. Coburn said.

WHY POLLSTERS DON’T UNDERSTAND VOTERS

The surprise victory of Britain's Conservative Party in the election last Thursday (5/7) was a grave embarrassment to all 11 of the UK's biggest pollsters, who predicted the Tories would lose narrowly, or barely eke out a win. "In all my years as a journalist and strategist, I've never seen as stark a failure of polling," said David Axelrod, President Obama's campaign guru, who advised the Labour Party ("labor" spelled the Brit way).  Axelrod, you'll enjoy hearing, returned to the US humiliated by his own failure. The British election was just the most recent surprise for pollsters globally, who badly underestimated Likud's strength in the Israeli election March 17; badly underestimated how well Republicans would do in the 2014 midterm elections. Why have pollsters become so bad at understanding voters recently?  There are many proposed explantions, but ine stands out.

HALF-FULL REPORT 04/10/15

"It's hard not to think that Iran is out to humiliate Barack Hussein Obama," said Richard Fernandez after the mullahs contradicted every assertion he's made about his "historic" Iran deal. "With this calculated slight, they not only want to wipe the floor with his reputation, they want to see him crawl.  And he probably will." We can't laugh about this farce because the implication's of Zero's craven behavior are so ominous. So, for pure comedy gold, here is State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf saying the president was "a little mixed up" and "muddled," and here is Ms. Harf again, dismissing criticisms of the Iran deal by former secretaries of state Henry Kissinger and George Schultz as "a lot of big words and big thoughts." Iran has sent a destroyer and a support ship to the coast of Yemen. It sure looks as if the fit is about to hit the shan there. Bowe Bergdahl was planning to join the Taliban when he walked away from his post, an investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigation Service determined in 2009, according to LtCol. Anthony Shaffer, a former Army intelligence officer who served in Afghanistan. Hillary has leased office space in Brooklyn for her campaign headquarters. She may formally announce she's running for president this weekend. Yesterday was the 150th anniversary of Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House. Brian Beutler, a putz who writes for The New Republic, wants April 9 to be made a national holiday, and to disavow or rename all monuments to the Confederacy. Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Indiana  re-opened yesterday. "Within an hour, all eight tables were filled and six people were waiting for carryout orders," owner Kevin O'Connor said. On Tuesday, Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY, became the second Republican officially to announce his candidacy for president. He'll run as an anti-Establishment outsider, critical of Republicans as well as Democrats.

OUR CARE-NOTHING-FOR-VETS PRESIDENT

It's been a month since we learned up to 40 of more than 1,400 veterans on a secret waiting list at the VA hospital in Phoenix may have died while waiting up to a year for treatment. Since that CNN broadcast April 23, doctored records and preventable deaths have been reported at 25 other VA facilities. It wasn't until yesterday (5/21) that President Barack Hussein Obama spoke in public about the scandal. He'd learned of it from news reports, said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. That's also how the president learned the Obamacare web site was a mess; the IRS was targeting conservative groups; security at the Benghazi consulate was lax, aides said. Evidently no one who works for Mr. Obama ever tells him anything. "I will not stand for it," Mr. Obama said. "There must be consequences." But he took no steps either to alleviate the suffering of veterans, or to punish those who've neglected them.

THE DEMOCRAT PARTY SHOULD BE RENAMED THE DEMAGOGUE PARTY

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake dawdled while Baltimore burned, let thugs run amok, then apologized for calling them "thugs." She worked harder to protect her image than to protect the law abiding. I didn't think it possible for a public official to demonstrate greater unfitness for office. I was wrong. States Attorney Marilyn Mosby filed criminal charges against six Baltimore police officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray, 25, who suffered a severe spinal injury while being transported in a police van. Roughly half of those arrested during a week of rioting were released without being charged. The indicted cops are being "thrown like red meat" to satisfy an angry mob, said Milwaukee County (Wis) Sheriff David Clarke, a Democrat who is black. The Gray family attorney was a major contributor to her campaign, so Ms. Mosby should have recused herself, said the Fraternal Order of Police. Demagogues like the Mosbys want to make what happened in Baltimore all about race. It isn't. Three of the indicted officers are black. So are the police chief and his deputy. So is the mayor.

HALF-FULL REPORT 04/03/15

President Barack Obama has got a deal with Iran, sort of, for which he paid a terrible price. In their pathetic eagerness for a deal - any deal -- Zero and Lurch pursued the mullahs like lovesick teenagers stalking a high school prom queen. Republicans think President Obama poses a more "imminent threat" to the United States than Vladimir Putin, according to a Reuters-Ipsos poll Monday. Liberals are aghast, but I'd say his appeasement of Iran proves us right. The Shia Houthi rebels backed by Iran have captured the presidential palace in the port city of Aden in Yemen, the AP reported Thursday. If the Houthis gain control of Aden, they could cut off shipments of oil to Europe through the Suez canal. Ambrose Evans-Pritchard explains what that would mean for the world economy. A virulent flesh eating skin disease has reached epidemic proportions in Raqqa, which ISIS has made its capital. Has God sent a plague? The big news at home this week was the hysterical, hypocritical, factually challenged assault of the fascists (we really must stop calling them liberals) on Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Hillary Clinton's lawyer said her email server has been "wiped clean." Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-SC, has asked her to come before the Benghazi Committee by May 1 to explain why she did it. Former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy wants to know why a subpoena hasn't been issued compelling her to appear. What Hillary did is flat out plain obstruction of justice, said Karl Denninger. Hillary must be hiding something "very, very bad" if she'd rather take the heat for erasing the server, said former CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson Ted Cruz has tripled his support among Republicans since he announced his candidacy for president.

THE TWO LAWSUITS THAT COULD DESTROY OBAMACARE

"The ordaining of laws in favor of one part of the nation, to the prejudice and oppression of another, is certainly the most erroneous and mistaken policy," said Benjamin Franklin. "An equal dispensation of protection, rights, privileges, and advantages, is what every part is entitled to, and ought to enjoy." But it's been tough sledding for equal protection of the laws these last five years. The president alters at his whim laws passed by Congress, exempting some, but not others, from Obamacare provisions. His attorney general won't prosecute civil rights offenses -- if the victims are white. Pennsylvania's attorney general won't prosecute bribe-taking politicians -- if they are black. The scofflaws could be reined in -- if plaintiffs prevail in lawsuits which got hearings in courts in Washington D.C. last week.

THE BLAME FOR BALTIMORE LIES WITH DEMOCRATS

"I think we, as a country, have to do some soul searching" about the rioting in Baltimore, President Barack Obama said Tuesday (4/28). Bunk. "We, as a country" are not to blame. First and foremost, blame resides with the racist thugs who looted stores, burned buildings and automobiles, assaulted police officers, shopkeepers, and white people who crossed their path. Next in order of culpability are the politicians whose belated and timid response allowed the thugs to run amok. The conduct of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has been especially appalling. Ms. Rawlings-Blake is a Democrat. So are all 15 members of the city council. Baltimore hasn't had a Republican mayor for 48 years, since Theodore McKeldin left office in 1967. Maryland has had just two Republican governors since 1969. Democrats have controlled both houses of the legislature since 1992. "The system" that has failed poor blacks in Baltimore was designed, and is administered, exclusively by Democrats. Ms. Rawlings-Blake is black. So is the president of the City Council, a majority of its members, and the States Attorney. Blacks in Baltimore aren't oppressed by The Man. In Baltimore, politically connected left wing Democrat blacks are The Man.

HALF-FULL REPORT 03/27/15

Evidently the Army doesn't agree with National Security Adviser Susan Rice that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl -for whom President Obama swapped five Taliban leaders, and may have paid a hefty ransom --served with "honor and distinction." The New York Post thinks a court martial for Bergdahl will make an Iran deal a harder sell. Not many Americans will trust a president who swapped five terrorist leaders for "one deserting weasel" to make a good one. Rebuffs from the mullahs intensify Zero's efforts to appease them. He's ordered U.S. air strikes in support of Iran's forces in Iraq. The Iranian militias Obama is supporting are more dangerous than ISIS, said retired Gen. David Petraeus, who is advising him on Iraq. Yemen is in chaos. Shiite Houthi rebels linked to Iran have ousted President Abed-Rabbo Mansour Hadi and dissolved Parliament. The U.S. embassy has been closed, vital intelligence documents lost. Some have been turned over to Iran. But White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest - aka Baghdad Bob - insisted yesterday Yemen is an anti-terror success story. The FBI disrupted a plot by ISIS supporters to kill "scores" of soldiers at a U.S. military base. NATO's new Secretary General was in Washington for three days this week, but President Obama wouldn't interrupt his busy schedule of ESPN watching and golf to meet with him. Dingy Harry Reid is hanging it up. Why of course it will be all right for a group affiliated with ISIS to conduct a training camp for students at Cornell, Joseph Scaffido, the assistant dean for students, said in response to a question from what he thought was a Moroccan student.

THE CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY OF OUR EDUCATION MAFIA

America has problems more urgent than our dreadful schools, but none more serious.  Little contributes more to high unemployment, sluggish economic growth, rising income inequality, poverty and violent crime. Thirty two million adults -- 14 percent of the population, 19 percent of high school graduates -- can't read, according to a study last year by the U.S. Department of Education.  The literacy rate is no better than it was in 2003 and is worse than in 1993.  Of the students who come to his classroom, "only a small fraction have a functioning understanding of written English," said a high school teacher in Oakland, California in 2007.  "They do not know how to form a sentence.  They cannot write an intelligible paragraph."  Even more struggle to make change or balance a checkbook. It isn't for lack of resources.  Per pupil expenditures were $11,184 in 2009-2010.  This is worse than a tragic misallocation of resources, a gargantuan waste of money.  Ponder the fact that nearly one high school graduate in five is functionally illiterate.  Could there be a more egregious -- or more pernicious -- example of fraud?   The fraudsters -- Democrat politicians, teacher unions, educrats -- have done more harm than those engaged in other types of organized crime.  They belong in jail, not running our schools.

A BOMBER PILOT FOR 2016?

Bomber pilots in World War II knew they were over the target when they began taking FLAK --the German acronym for Flugzeug Abwehr Kanonen" (air defense artillery). So hold your course steady, Scott Walker. You've frightened them. By "them," I don't mean just Democrats and leftist ideologues. Big business and establishment Republicans are terrified too. The flak they've fired at Wisconsin's governor for what most Americans regard as uncontroversial remarks indicates "terrified" isn't hyperbole. "The next president and the next Congress need to make decisions about a legal immigration system that's based, first and foremost, on protecting American workers and American wages," Gov. Walker said on Glenn Beck's radio program April 20. Gov. Walker is "far right," "anti-immigrant," "xenophobic," wants to end legal immigration, said many on the Left. Lying and name-calling are the Left's idea of "debate" on most issues .But establishment Republicans piled on too. All this flak means Walker is bombing a bullseye on the most serious issue regarding America's future.  Is he the bomber pilot we need for 2016?

HALF-FULL REPORT 03/20/15

Who knew St. Patrick was Jewish? Tuesday, March 17 was a great day for the Irish, a greater day for Israelis; a bad day for the putz in the White House and for the Lying Swine; a very bad day for the mullahs in Tehran. Zero plans to punish Israel for voting for the guy he doesn't like. "Every single Obama failure... is followed by a Prolonged Snit," says Ace. That the White House was "doing its damndest to vilify him on the Sunday talk shows" indicates the carpet bombing of Sen. Tom Cotton, R-AR has failed, said William Bigelow of Breitbart News. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Monday the administration's request to lift the injunction issued by District Judge Andrew Hanen barring implementation of Zero's executive orders providing amnesty for illegal aliens. Hanen is peeved about having been lied to; may impose sanctions on the Justice Department. The EPA wants to regulate backyard barbecues; monitor how long hotel guests spend in the shower. It's "burning the Constitution," said liberal Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe. "Late Night" host Seth Meyers tried to ambush Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex, Tuesday on "climate change." It did not go as planned. The Obama administration has shut down walk-in tax preparation centers where the IRS provided, for free, assistance in filling out their income tax forms to the poor and elderly, diverted the money to left wing nonprofits with ties to the administration.

OUR POINTLESS PLODDING PERFUNCTORY PICAYUNE PRESIDENT

President Barack Hussein Obama spoke for 65 minutes Tuesday (1/28) night, but didn't say much.  And hardly anyone in the country paid any attention.  Did you? State of the Union addresses typically are laundry lists of a president's alleged accomplishments, and of his legislative goals for the coming year. It's difficult for even the most gifted speechwriters to turn laundry lists into spellbinding oratory.  But this was "the most plodding, enervated and pointless national address of his presidency," said John Podhoretz in the New York Post.  "Gone is the lyricism for which liberals swooned in 2008 and to a lesser extent in 2012," said Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin. "In its place are a list of half-measures and forced anecdotes about Obamacare."  They were "picayune --  high-tech hubs, broadband access for kids, the minimum wage," said Rich Lowry of National Review. "Is that all there is?" asked Ron Fournier of the National Journal.  The president touched on liberal hot buttons such as gun control and income inequality, but his touch was perfunctory.  This was the most startling passage in the SOTU:

SCOOBY AND THE LYING SWINE

On her way to Iowa in a van she called "Scooby Doo," Hillary Clinton stopped for lunch at a Chipotle restaurant in Toledo. It was "historic," said Newsweek. She carried her own tray, gushed the New York Times. "We've never seen her eat a burrito before!" marveled Mark Halperin of Bloomberg News. Politico wrote a story about "the everyday people who made Hillary Clinton's burrito." The subtext, I gather, was how thrilling that must have been for the peasants. I hope they were thrilled, because Hillary didn't leave a tip. The "listening tour" - right down to the name of her van - is a reprise of what Ms. Clinton did when she ran for the Senate in 2000. Every event in Iowa - where Hillary met mostly with small, pre-screened groups - was staged and scripted. In the first, three "ordinary Iowans" she chatted with in a café were Democrat campaign operatives driven there by her staff. And yet the Lying Swine continue to swoon.

HALF-FULL REPORT 03/13/15

It's Friday the 13th, which is bad luck for somebody. But not for us. Hillary dug the hole she's in deeper this week. Big labor suffered a big blow in Wisconsin. With trust in the broadcast networks at 10, 10, and 8 percent, it isn't only us who think the Lying Swine are Lying Swine. Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark, has written a letter, cosigned by 46 Republican senators, to the mullahs in Iran reminding them that if the Senate doesn't approve it, any deal they make with Zero won't survive his presidency.  Democrats have responded with a hysterical, hypocritical, often hilarious hissy fit. Two police officers in Ferguson, Mo were shot shortly after midnight Thursday morning (3/12) during what the Lying Swine described as "mostly peaceful" protests. The shooting was prompted by what Milwaukee County (Wis) Sheriff David Clarke, a Democrat who is black, called a "witch hunt" by the Justice Department. Wisconsin became the 25th right to work state Monday, which made National Review very happy, Barack Obama very unhappy. Perhaps most significant is how pathetic were the union/leftist protests this time. Could New Mexico be 26th? Venezuela is the most recent proof of how right William F. Buckley Jr. was when he said: "If the Communists took over the Sahara desert ...there would be a shortage of sand." Don't let the leftist canard about a "runaway" convention keep you from supporting a Convention of the States.  Hillary Clinton held a news conference Tuesday (3/10) to address scandals that erupted 22 days before. Democrats who were nervous before her presser are panicking now, said the Washington Post.

REGRESSIVE RACISM

What George Wallace and "Bull" Connor would have decried as "miscegenation" is commonplace in America today. Ten percent of all married couples in 2010 were interracial, a 28 percent increase since 2000, according to the Census Bureau. There were 157,000 interracial married couples in 1960, 5.4 million in 2010.  Nine million Americans reported being of mixed race, a 32 percent increase over 2000. At one time or another, all but 9 states (Alaska, Connecticut, Hawaii, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Vermont and Wisconsin) had laws forbidding mixed race marriages.  We've come a long way in half a century.  But there are still racists among us.  Especially among regressive liberals.  Call what they espouse Regressive Racism.   Here are some revolting examples of it.

TOLERANCE YES, COMPULSION NO

My fiancée wanted her rabbi, a family friend, to marry us. He refused - because I'd made it clear I wouldn't convert; our children would be baptized. I admired him for it. The rabbi would have done just about anything for my lady - except that. He took his faith, and his office, seriously. To preside over our wedding would have mocked both. I don't think a person's sexual preference has anything to do with character - or is any of my business. I applaud gays in long term monogamous relationships. They ought to have the same legal protections as if they were married. But I'm against gay marriage, because God said marriage is between a man and a woman, and I take Him at His word. President Obama compared the "struggle" for gay marriage to the struggle for civil rights in his speech last month commemorating the 50th anniversary of the march in Selma, Alabama.  As always, he's immorally wrong.  Here's why.
