ABROGATING THE IRAN DEAL

Although candidate Donald Trump repeatedly criticized Barack Obama’s Iran nuclear agreement, his administration has twice decided to remain in the deal. It so certified to Congress, most recently in July, as required by law.

Before the second certification, Trump asked repeatedly for alternatives to acquiescing yet again in a policy he clearly abhorred. But no such options were forthcoming, despite “a sharp series of exchanges” between the president and his advisers, as the New York Times and similar press reports characterized it.

Many outside the administration wondered how this was possible: Was Trump in control, or were his advisors?

Defining a compelling rationale to exit Obama’s failed nuclear deal and elaborating a game plan to do so are quite easy. In fact, Steve Bannon asked me in late July to draw up just such a game plan for the president — the option he didn’t have — which I did.

Here it is below. It is only five pages long, but like instant coffee, it can be readily expanded to a comprehensive, hundred-page playbook if the administration were to decide to leave the Iran agreement.

There is no need to wait for the next certification deadline in October. Trump can and should free America from this execrable deal at the earliest opportunity.

I offer the Iran nonpaper now as a public service, since staff changes at the White House have made presenting it to President Trump impossible. Although he was once kind enough to tell me “come in and see me any time,” those days are now over.

If the president is never to see this option, so be it. But let it never be said that the option didn’t exist.

WINNING IN AFGHANISTAN REQUIRES REGIME CHANGE IN IRAN

iran-afghan-on-the-mapYou shouldn’t be surprised that Generals McMaster, Mattis, and Kelly convinced President Trump to send more American troops into Afghanistan. It’s what they know, after all, recalling the old gag: if you’ve got a hammer, you look for nails to hit.

As Angelo Codevilla has rightly asked: How will we know when we have won? Are a few thousand more men and women sufficient for that task?  Notice that you can’t answer the questions by simply looking at the Afghan battlefield. It’s bigger than that.

The Taliban are vigorously supported by Iran, yet our Afghan strategy does not discuss it. I don’t believe it’s possible for us to dominate Afghan fighting without defeating the Iranians. We must put an end to Iranian training and arming of Taliban terrorists. This can’t be done without cutting off the Taliban killers from the Islamic Republic.

Generals McMaster, Kelly, and Mattis know this. But like every U.S. administration since 1979, they are unwilling to design a strategy for regime change in Tehran.

THE STATE CHURCH OF THE LEFT

church-of-the-left"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..."

The First Amendment assumes that the proper sphere of government is policies, not values. And so it protects the right of political participation and prohibits a state church that would define values.

The government had the right to decide to go to war with France. It did not have a right to decide what you should believe. Politics extended into the realm of policies, not beliefs.

But as religious belief declined, politics replaced it as the repository of moral and ethical values. This transformation began on the Left. The Left was the least religious in the traditional sense. And the most likely to build up an ideology of secular values with which to displace traditional religious values.

The last century witnessed an extensive effort to scrub religious values out of government. But this effort was matched by an equally comprehensive project to replace them with the Left’s own values. Unlike the wall between church and state, there were few legal safeguards against writing values into legislation if they were irreligious ones. The church was deemed to be the true threat. Not the state.

But the end result looks very much like an establishment of religion. Even in the church sense.

WARMIST LIES ABOUT HARVEY

Alexendre Jourge uses evacuates Ethan Colman, 4, from a neighborhood in west Houston inundated by floodwaters from Tropical Storm Harvey on Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, in Houston, Texas. (AP Photo/Charlie Riedel)All week some of the very worst people in climate activism have been trying to make political mileage out of Hurricane Harvey.

What all these blowhard charlatans have in common is that they are all talking drivel. They are, as the Trump EPA rightly says, attempting “to politicize an ongoing tragedy.”

For climate alarmists every major weather event – especially ones that cause millions of dollars of damage to property and claim human lives – is never really a disaster or even a crisis but a heaven-sent opportunity to promote their alarmist narrative.

This is what Al Gore has just done in his box office flop An Inconvenient Sequel. He has collected lots of dramatic footage of floods, hurricanes, typhoons and so on and tried to conflate all this photogenic weather disaster porn with man-made climate change.

Meanwhile, here’s a reality check courtesy of actual weather data recorded by proper scientists from the days when scientists did actual science.  Harvey is a natural meteorological event which has nothing whatsoever to do with man-made climate change.

SLAVERY AND REAL HISTORY

Moslem slavery in Africa still exists today
Moslem slavery in Africa still exists today

It is a safe bet that everyone reading this column had an ancestor who was either a slave or slaveholder.

It is also no coincidence that the effort to abolish slavery on a sustained and global basis did not occur until after the advent of the industrial revolution.

Persistent slavery can be found in all cultures once people ceased being exclusively hunter-gatherers. Slavery was in fact “normal” until recent times. Sudan became the last country to legally abolish it in 2007 but, although illegal, it continues to be practiced in some countries.

[Note by JW: these countries are all Moslem because Allah officially approves of slavery in the Koran – see Allah and Slavery from February 2007.]

In most countries throughout history, the slaves were often of the same race as the slaveholder. In the antebellum South, most whites were not slaveholders, and some American blacks were. Well before the Revolution, there were some white slaves — mainly Irish — that the British had brought to America.

Slavery in other words, like most things in history, was a complex institution that differed from time to time and place to place, and to criticize and vilify our ancestors for not having today’s values is not particularly useful.

BLACK NATIONALIST STATUES MUST FALL

malcolm-x
Malcolm X

There are streets, schools and parks across the country named after a violent racist who urged the KKK to murder civil rights activists and claimed that racial integration was a Jewish conspiracy.

There’s a boulevard in Brooklyn named after a racist who admired Hitler and boasted of being the first fascist. Harvard has a prominent institute named after a bigot who defended Nazi bigotry.

New York City, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles all have streets named after a supremacist and nationalist who palled around with Nazis. New York City has a statue of him. Washington D.C. has an art tribute to him. If we are going to take down Confederate memorials, there’s no way he can stay up.

He must fall.

In 1961, Malcolm X introduced George Lincoln Rockwell, the leader of the American Nazi Party, on stage at a Nation of Islam rally. After Rockwell made a donation to the racist black nationalist hate group, Malcom X led a round of applause for the Neo-Nazi leader and called him, “Mr. Rockwell.”

There’s been a recent effort in Bethesda to rename Winston Churchill High School after Malcolm X. How can you rename a school honoring the leader who defeated Nazism after Malcolm, a Nazi collaborator?

THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR NORTH KOREA IS REGIME CHANGE

The Crazy Fat Kid has to go
The Crazy Fat Kid has to go

Yes, it’s serious. Damn serious. Not just because a hostile country ruled by an unstable dictator either has, or is on the verge of having, ICBMs and nuclear warheads.

But also because North Korea is just one of many tyrannies preparing to do mean things to the United States. And our friends.

Mr. Kim is backing away from the threat to bomb Guam, which gives us a breather to ask some basic questions and craft a winning strategy. Alas, we have neither reliable answers to the basic questions, nor anything approaching a winning strategy.

One problem is that we’re not dealing with a rogue state in isolation – it’s an entire global network of rogue states from Iran to Russia to China.  There’s only one solution.  We have to engineer regime change in Pyongyang.

GLOBAL WARMING PROVEN NATURAL NOT MAN-MADE ONCE AGAIN

global-warming-is-natural[It is quite gratifying that TTP’s “Solar Warming” published ten years ago continues to be proven correct –JW]

Most global warming is natural and even if there had been no Industrial Revolution current global temperatures would be almost exactly the same as they are now, a study has found.

The paper, by Australian scientists John Abbot and Jennifer Marohasy, published in GeoResJ uses the latest big data technique to analyze six 2,000 year-long proxy temperature series from different geographic regions.

“Proxies” are the markers scientists use – tree rings, sediments, pollen, etc – to try assess global temperature trends in the days before the existence of thermometers.

All the evidence suggests that the planet was about a degree warmer during the Medieval Warming Period than it is now; and that there is nothing unnatural or unprecedented about late 20th century and early 21st century “climate change”.

IS CHINA’S DEBT MUCH WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT?

china-debtIn its latest country focus, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) upgraded the growth outlook for Asia’s largest economy to an average of 6.4 percent a year through to 2021, compared to 6 percent previously.

Could this be Pollyannic?  Because the IMF said the faster pace of growth would come at the cost of increased debt.

China’s total non-financial sector debt, including corporate, government and household debt, is expected to reach almost 300 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2022, up from 242 percent in 2016, as Beijing strives to achieve its goal of doubling 2010 real GDP by 2020.

That’s according to the IMF – and it could be far worse than that.  Analysts such as Charlene Chu are saying that

the real bad debt figure in China is up to $6.8 trillion more than official estimates.  And everyone knows not to trust China’s official estimates.

WILL BRITAIN TAKE THE LEAD AWAY FROM AMERICA ON GENE EDITING?

dna-editing Britain has an opportunity to seize on the latest breakthroughs in gene (or DNA) editing and pioneer new approaches in agriculture, research and medicine.

We Brits are well placed to be bold but responsible gene editors. Bolder than continental countries, looking over their shoulder to the disapproving Roman Catholic church; more responsible than China, where decisions on such matters are taken by officials with little consultation with the public; and without the divisive culture battles over moral and legal issues that so often divide the United States on matters of biology.

Twenty years ago, America was relaxed about genetic modification, whereas Britain was easily panicked by the green movement into nonsensical fears of “Frankenstein foods”. Today, it is the other way around.

Hotted up by green campaigners who are aware of “climate fatigue” among their donors, Americans are increasingly torn over GMOs, despite decades of safe and environmentally beneficial experience of growing of them.  Here In Britain, we’re past that,

HAS THE FED REACHED A DEAD END?

rising-productivity-falling-prices-chart

Is more inflation desirable? Those at the Federal Reserve seem to think so, and they have explicitly said their target is 2 percent, or about double the current level.

Why would they argue for a further erosion of the purchasing power of the dollar? It is on the misguided belief (i.e., the long-discredited Phillips Curve) that moderately higher levels of inflation lead to higher levels of employment.

The unemployment rate numbers indicate that the United States is now at what was traditionally considered full employment — yet the number of people working as a percentage of the work force is close to a three-decade low.

Employers have not had to raise most wages, particularly for the unskilled, because there is such a large pool of unemployed or underemployed people ready to enter the work force when they see the right opportunity.

What you see in the chart above is the dead end the Fed has reached.  Here’s why.

HALF-FULL REPORT 08/18/17

Destroying history – Antifa is America’s Taliban
Destroying history – Antifa is America’s Taliban

Have you ever had a time when you hated being right about something? You predicted something truly awful was going to happen, and sure enough it did? How did that make you feel? Happy that you were correct, or miserable as you wish you had been wrong?

For me, it’s the latter. For years I have been explaining how and why the Left – which has taken over the Democrat Party, the Fake News Alt-Left Media, Academia and much more – is Hate America Fascist fomenting the worst racial problem our country has: anti-white racism.

Recently, I began warning that the Left was becoming overtly Nazi, its anti-white racism metastasizing into Nazi genocidally murderous hate with Whites as the new Jews. Please consider re-reading The Nazi Left and the Source of Trump Hatred (June 9).

This has been the week when all that came nightmarishly true. And it is all horribly worse than I ever imagined. There is, though, hope and silver linings.

You won’t believe what POTUS’ tweet on Black Jack Pershing implies. It’ll set your mind on fire. There’s lots more. Here we go…

HORATIO AT AMERICA’S BRIDGE

horatioOnce upon a time in days of long ago when kids in school were actually educated, they all knew the story of Horatio at the Bridge.

Winston Churchill committed all 600 lines of Macaulay’s famous poem about it to memory as a young boy, a story of epic heroism that inspired him all his life.

Horatio, or Publius Horatius, was a soldier in the fledgling Roman Army in 508 BC when the small weak city-state rebelled against rule by the Etruscans. His nickname was “Cocles,” meaning one-eyed as he had lost an eye in a previous battle. A huge Etruscan army attacked, slaughtering the Roman army, the remnants of which fled across the narrow Pons Sublicius bridge over the Tiber River and through the gates to the city.

As the Etruscans stormed over the bridge to sack and destroy Rome, one man stood in their way and defied them. Horatio yelled back at his fellow Romans to cut down the bridge behind him while he fought and killed the Etruscans before him.

Then out spake brave Horatius, The Captain of the gate: “To every man upon this earth Death cometh soon or late. And how can man die better Than facing fearful odds For the ashes of his fathers And the temples of his gods,

“Hew down the bridge, Sir Consul, With all the speed ye may; I, with two more to help me, Will hold the foe in play. In yon strait path a thousand May well be stopped by three: Now who will stand on either hand, And keep the bridge with me?”

Do you hear America’s Horatio calling out to you?
