IPHONES AND WIKIS

Apple announced Monday June 9th at the World Wide Developer Conference that  the new iPhone would be released for sale on July11th, 2008. While the original iPhone release was slick and had a great touch interface, it missed the business niche market. The new device should fill those missing elements nicely. Here is why.

The new phone has GPS, which is a big plus for the business traveler. It also will provide metadata to an image captured with its built-in camera to provide your exact location where the image was taken.

Lets talk 3G. The iPhone with 2.0 software will cruise nicely on 3G networks which the rest of the world has been doing for a while. AT&T, the iPhone's exclusive carrier in the US has bumped up their networks to 3G levels in all major markets. The effect of this is downloading files, watching UTube videos, and email attachments will now be quicker.

ROOTING FOR BLOOMIE

What is it with little guys with egos as big as their billionaire bank accounts who think they can get elected President of the United States as a third party independent?

Beats me.  But while it was horrifically destructive the last time - in 1992 - it may be marvelous today.  Right now, I'm rootin' for Bloomie.

Ross Perot was five-foot-six.  Michael Bloomberg is maybe a half-inch taller.  We owe the Clinton Presidency to Perot - the 19% of the vote he gained was mostly a protest against George H. W. Bush.  If Perot had not run, Clinton would have lost.  Thanks, Ross.

Now Little Mikey thinks it's his turn to come to America's rescue.  I can see the ad now, Bloomie strolling along a sun-kissed beach, looking straight into the camera, and saying:

"Hi, America!  I know what you're suffering from, causing you so much frustration and anxiety.  You're a victim of Electile Dysfunction - the inability to become aroused over any of the choices for president put forth by either party in the 2008 election year.  You want a cure for this terrible malady, America?  Well, you're looking at it - me, Mike Bloomberg for President."

PROTECTING YOUR CHILDREN

A few of my friends caught their children on websites that I'll describe below. They asked me what to do about it. I did some searching on the Web, and this article is a compilation of what I found out. As you read you'll find it's really fearsome.

The short answer is: Your kids aren't going to stop using MySpace and Facebook, but at least you can give them safety helmets and kneepads.

Chapter Fifteen: THE HILL OF TZOMPACHTEPETL

Chapter Fifteen: The Hill of Tzompachtepetl

Accompanied by twenty Xocotlan sub-chiefs sent by King Olintecle, the expedition made its way down the Apulco river valley to a town where Olintecle told them they could wait for the messengers’ return. The King had advised Cortez against going to Tlaxcala. “They are bad people,” he said, “traitors against the Great Montezuma. A more treacherous people you will never find.” But Cortez insisted, trusting the advice of Mamexi and the Totonacs.

The town was called Izta Quimaxtitlan (itch’-ta qwee-mox-teet’-lan), and when they arrived, all of the elders and nobles had assembled to greet them, proclaiming they had received word from Tenochtitlan that the Great Montezuma commanded the Spaniards be welcomed in every way the town was able. As the expedition rested and ate, a group of town elders approached Cortez. “They wish to warn you against the people of Tlaxcala,” Malinali explained.

“They say these people are very treacherous and cannot be trusted, that the Tlaxcalans know of you and do not care if you are allies of the Totonacs. The Tlaxcalans say many times have armies come to their country pretending to be friends and once inside, tried to destroy them. The Tlaxcalans do not believe the stories of the Totonacs not paying taxes to Montezuma because of you. The Tlaxcalans say this is not possible, that this is another trick, that their whole country is ready to fight you, to kill you and eat your flesh cooked with chilies.”

HOW CHINA TURNED OBAMA INTO ITS USEFUL GREEN IDIOT

China's approach to international energy and environmental policy can be summed up very simply: tell the idiot yang guizi whatever they want to hear - then carry on doing what China wants, regardless.

Fortunately for the prospects of the US economy, it would appear that not every US politician has fallen for the risible line, heavily promoted by the Obama administration and its amen corner in the environmental movement, that China cares every bit as much as the West does about the allegedly urgent need to curb global CO2 emissions.

Two who very much haven't are Republican senators Roy Blunt of Missouri and Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma who have just launched a challenge to the bilateral climate change "agreement" reached by Mr. Obama with China last year, whereby both countries have supposedly made a commitment to reducing their "greenhouse gas" emissions.

In addition, there is, as this ACCF policy research special report notes, a good deal of further legal trouble ahead for Obama and his eco-fascists at the EPA.  Mr. Obama may yet be prevented from being China's Useful Green Idiot - however much he wants to be.

HALF-FULL REPORT 02/06/15

We begin with an act of political genius, the greatest campaign ad of modern times:

{youtube}76fSRK7G784{/youtube}

Israel is impossibly lucky to have Bibi leading their country.  That's why Zero hates him, because - in addition to Bibi being everything he is not, a man of integrity, honor, courage and patriotism - Zero hates Israel.

He hates Israel not because he's a Moslem - Zero's no more a Moslem than he is a Christian, his religion is Himself as a pathological narcissist.  He hates Israel because Israel is an ally of America and her enemies are America's...

Zero's Prayer Breakfast speech yesterday was beyond digusting.  Bobby Jindal's response skewered him.

Jindal is saying interesting things these days.  By contrast, Jeb Bush wins the Idiot of the Week award hands down...

We have a true champion of the 10th Amendment as our Hero of the Week -- and he's a judge.

THE GOP CONGRESS’ JOB ONE: TARGET BUREAUCRATS

What is the greatest obstacle confronting the new congressional Republican majority in enacting good policy? It may not be President Obama, because there is an even more formidable force in Washington that crushes good policy: the Permanent Bureaucracy.

The permanent bureaucracy is made up of federal employees, government contractors and their employees, congressional staff and the special-interest lobbying community (including law and accounting firms). It also includes the media establishment, which depends on leaks and information from those in government for stories in exchange for protective coverage.

Hardworking taxpayers never cease being ripped off by wasteful and fraudulent government spending and regulation. Unlike what happens in the private sector, people in government rarely go to jail or are even fired for financial misconduct.

The government requires financial and senior officers of companies to sign off on the accuracy of their financial statements in order to protect stockholders. Company officers are subject to civil and criminal penalties, including jail time for misstatements, and their names are released to the press.

There is no reason for taxpayers to be any less protected than stockholders from financial negligence or fraud.  Here's how to do it.

TED’S TOP TEN FOR 2015

By all signs, Americans are preparing to send Washington a clear message in the 2014 elections.

The question is, will Washington listen?

Republicans - poised to take control of Congress - should set our sights on three big goals to make Americans feel confident in their futures once again: jumpstart the economy, safeguard constitutional liberties, and strengthen our national security.

Here are ten critical priorities for the 2015 Congress:

First, embrace a big pro-jobs, growth agenda.

For six years, the Obama economy has been trapped in stagnation, hurting millions. A Republican Congress should immediately help Americans get more jobs by embracing America's energy renaissance.

This means passing legislation to make it easier to build energy infrastructure, such as the Keystone pipeline. But, we need an energy policy that's bigger than Keystone.

An effective energy plan would also protect innovative energy technology, such as hydraulic fracturing, from being handcuffed by the federal government. We can also open up land for exploration and ensure that American companies can export liquefied natural gas around the world.

And, lastly, stop the EPA from implementing rules that will destroy coal jobs and drive up our electricity bills.

Second,

LIBERALS NEED TO BE AS AFRAID OF CONSERVATIVES AS THEY ARE OF MOSLEMS

Josey Wales made the issue very clear:

{youtube}yid-CW-O9Qw{/youtube}

"Now remember, when things look bad and you think you're not going to make it, then you've got to get mean - I mean plumb mad dog mean.  Because if you lose your head and you give up, then you neither live nor win.  That's just the way it is."

America is dying of an epidemic of Political Ebola spread by Liberal Fascists.  It is no use to bemoan and wring our hands over it.  The only thing to do is get plumb mad dog mean.

In this regard, let's ask:  What allows Libs - Liberal academics and teachers, pundits, reporters, TV talking heads, New York Times editorial writers, Dem politicians - to denounce and ridicule Conservative values and beliefs, which they never ever do with those of Moslems?

It's a softball question - it's because Libs are terrified and intimidated by Moslems but not by Conservatives.

So let's ask a more difficult question:  how do we make Libs as afraid of us?

WHY THE LEFT IS RACIST AND FASCIST

These are the two most common accusations the Left hurls at the Right.  It's what psychologists call "projection" - accusing others what you are guilty of.  Let's take them one at a time, then see how they are connected.

To understand how the Left is racist, we'll do a thought experiment by asking: What if Obama were white?

Let's suppose that his bio is exactly the same, except that his Kenyan father was white.  Kenya, of course, was created by white British colonialists at the end of the 19th century as the British East Africa Protectorate, and renamed the Crown Colony of Kenya in 1920.

So - flaming Marxist anti-Western Civilization self-hating white guy, community organizer who never had a real job, professional Alinskyite agitator turned professional politician with absolutely no business or executive experience whatever, freshman Senator with no legislative accomplishments whatever, no real intelligence, just a pathological narcissist with a shrewd manipulative cunning behind a glib voice and flashy smile.

Would anyone in the Democrat Party, the Enemedia, the Moonbat blogosphere, Academia, or the public at large have paid any attention to this white guy's running for president - much less clamored for him to do so or swooned when he did?

Of course not.  The only, single, solitary reason anyone paid any attention to Obama is that he's black.  His candidacy, his election, his presidency is entirely racist.  America has a Racist Presidency because he wouldn't be president if he were another white guy, albeit with exactly the same bio.

THE TREASURE OF HUMAN CONNECTION

One of my favorite researchers is Barbara Fredrickson, of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Her new book is Love 2.0, in which she looks at "love from the body's perspective" -- meaning that she has been studying how the experience of the emotion of love affects your physiology, including your physical health.

Now, when we hear the word "love," we think of romantic love, or how we love our kids, other family members, and friends.

We even feel it in what Fredrickson calls "micro-moments of connection." The nice conversation you have with the checkout person at the grocery store; the warm greeting of welcome by a new acquaintance at a meeting; even the moment of eye contact with a stranger who holds open a door.

It turns out that these micro-moments of connection are actually filled with stuff that is good for you, like a good meal is filled with nutrients; emotionally, psychologically, and in terms of your overall health.

OUR UNCONFIDENT CIVILIZATION

[Letter to the Wall Street Journal]

This is in response to "Our Incompetent Civilization" by Wall Street Journal columnist Bret Stephens.

Mr. Stephens ascribes failures to profile Moslems at airport security, think rationally about climate change, or eliminate Somali pirates to "civilizational incompetence."  Such failures are not due to a lack of ability but to a lack of will.  It is not civilizational competence that we lack but civilizational confidence.

On the same day as Mr. Stephens' article (01/04/10), Der Spiegel ran an editorial bemoaning the lack of Western outrage at recent Moslem attacks on Danish cartoonists who caricatured Mohammed.  It was entitled, "The West Is Choked by Fear."  But fear of what?

Whatever that fear is of, it is the cause of our collapse of civilizational confidence.  Please allow me to identify it.  It is the fear of envy.

SOMALI AND IRANIAN HOSTAGE-TAKERS DESERVE THE SAME FATE

In American custody in Iraq are two Iranian terrorists, Ali Musa Daqduq and Qayis Khazali. Both were captured in Iraq in the spring of 2007, following the bloody attack in Karbala in which five American soldiers were murdered.

U.S. military forces in Iraq discovered that both of them were working for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force.  The British want them released.  They want them exchanged for Brits being held hostage in Iran.  Those hostages are used to blackmail their country into doing things it might not otherwise do.

Knowing all this about the Brits, one has to wonder to what extent we, too, are being blackmailed by the mullahs.  There are now four Americans held hostage now in Iran, the most well-known being Roxana Saberi, and two in North Korea.

TWITTER

Have you heard of the service on the web called Twitter? It's a service for you, your friends, and co-workers to stay connected by exchanging quick frequent answers to one simple question, such as WHAT are you doing?

It's marketed as social networking and "micro-blogging," but is also useful for other communications. It is usually limited to 140 characters per string of communication, which keeps it short and simple.

Let's say that you and group of colleagues are working on a project that has you scattered over the continent. With Twitter it's possible to update everyone or request a quick answer, pertinent to all with a "tweet." To find out more or actually use Twitter go here:  Twitter

THE ILLEGAL ELEPHANT IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM

The Washington Post, flagship of the liberal elite in our nation's capital, ran the most marvelously revealing story this week (1/15).  In typical heart-tugging WaPo style, Emergency Care Waits Found To Be On Rise described the growing nationwide "deadly" crisis of hyper-crowded hospital emergency rooms.

After providing examples and stats showing how much longer it takes to see a physician in an emergency room, the article listed the causes of this "frightening trend."  Guess what they don't mention.

The idiom "elephant in the room" refers to ignoring something overwhelmingly obvious, pretending it doesn't exist.  Liberals take this one step further - they really don't see the elephant, they willfully blind themselves to the elephant's existence, in this case taking up most of the space in the emergency room of most of the hospitals in the country.

Any of you who have been in an ER recently know exactly what I am talking about:  they are overflowing with illegal aliens speaking a torrent of Spanish demanding free medical care.

It's another example of why the issue of illegal immigration is such an Achilles Heel for Democrats in November.
