A ‘GO WOKE, GO BROKE’ CASE STUDY

Over the last three years, there have been downward trends in corporate support for leftist woke agendas and efforts to identify with progressives and social justice activists.

Hit hardest are corporate campaigns promoting gender confusion and diversity, equity, and inclusion agendas. Those declines started in the Joe Biden years and have accelerated under Donald Trump.

Community and corporate support for so-called “Pride Month” celebrations has been trending downward for several years, driven in part by the Demos’ ever more deviant transnormalcy agenda — especially promoting the Demo/LGBT advocacy for so-called “gender-affirming” care for children, which is code for “gender mutilation” of children.

As our managing editor Nate Jackson concluded during last year’s Pride Month: “Maybe it’s a reaction to the overreach of leftist culture warriors foisting ‘pride’ on everyone through increasingly lewd public displays, often billed as ostensibly ‘family friendly.’ Maybe it’s simply that more people are figuring out that Pride Month is gross.”

And the question now, especially given the high-profile increase in mass violence perpetrated by those suffering from gender-disorientation pathology, is this: Will the gender cult implode?

Diversity is Britain's strength, we're told. But apparently the immigrants in Birmingham aren't so certain about that.

They are complaining that British natives are stealing their jobs, which explains why they are on welfare.

Since they can't find work by taking the jobs from white Brits, they are forced to rely on those native Brits' taxes to fund the welfare that keeps them living in comfort.

That seems to be the upshot of Michael Deacon's interviews in the migrant neighborhoods of Birmingham, where welfare use is through the roof. Wondering why, he decided to find out by asking the people who need it.

Over the past couple of decades, more than a few British people have accused immigrants of stealing their jobs, by under-cutting them on pay. At last, though, it seems that things may be starting to change. Because these days, apparently, it’s the other way round.

THE UNTOUCHABLES – OR, AT LEAST, THE UNTOUCHED

My name is Everett Stern.

In 2010 I was a compliance officer at @HSBC. From a back office in New Castle, Delaware, I watched billions of dollars move to drug cartels, sanctioned regimes, and terrorist organizations.

The enemies of the United States.

I documented it, I escalated it, and when the bank would not act, I took it to the @FBI, the @CIA, and eventually the @SECGov.

The result was a $1.92 billion settlement.

At the time, it was one of the largest in American history.

It was also about five weeks of the bank’s profit. Not one banker was charged. Not one went to prison.

I paid a different price. I lost my career, my savings, and my place in the industry I had trained for. I was blacklisted. Every door in American finance closed at once. I slept on a camping cot in a 300 square foot apartment because I could not afford a bed, and I waited tables at PF Changs to eat.

I tell you this not for sympathy, but so you understand that I know exactly what it costs to do the right thing in American finance, and exactly how little the system does in return.

FRENCH TOAST

As we go to press, France is once again awash in riots.

Civil disorder actually has a long tradition there; with possibly the most notable occasion being the Revolution of 1789.

This is often compared to the American Revolution, as they occurred very closely together in time; and certainly, French support in ours was invaluable.

However, their revolution was very different in character from the American one.

The recent trouble in France began in earnest on September 17^th, coinciding with a teacher’s strike. This story is evolving daily, but over a third of French high schools are now besieged in forty cities with an estimated 250,000 participants.

The protests have spread. Currently, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Germany, Italy, and Austria are having them on a smaller scale.

What we have to remember is—as with any contemporary disorder—the alleged reason is almost never the actual one.

AGELESS PRIORITY

I think the Beatles were mostly right about money and love.

But there are ways of spending our money that can actually make us happier.

After a few years of frugal living, Cindy and Jeff had saved enough for a down payment on a house they liked. They bought the house, which they like a lot. Even though the mortgage payment was a bit of a challenge, they could manage it. For years they put all the extra money they had into the house – new appliances, furniture, decorating, repairs…

FLASHBACK FRIDAY – BRANDON AT LAMAYURU

High in the Himalayas of India in the remote moonscape of Tibetan Ladakh is the gompa (Tibetan monastery) of Lamayuru. It is older than Tibetan Buddhism, for it was originally a gompa for the lama monks of Bön, the ancient animist religion of Tibet. I took my son Brandon here on an expedition through Tibetan India in 1993. Brandon had his 10^th birthday here. Behind him is the enormous statue of blue-eyed Sakyamuni Buddha in the central prayer hall.

Brandon has never forgotten Lamayuru as anyone who has been here never does. We’ll be here again soon – and Brandon will be leading the expedition. (Glimpses of our breathtaking world #151 photo ©Jack Wheeler)

THE TIBETAN KINGDOM OF LO

This is one of the magical places we experience on our Himalaya Helicopter Expeditions. An independent kingdom for 650 years in the remote Mustang region of Nepal, it is one of the last places of traditional Tibetan culture on earth, unchanged for centuries. There are sky-caves here – apartment complexes carved out of vertical cliffs 2,000 years ago – Drok-pa nomads in the high pastures, spectacular sacred ceremonies, all in a mysteriously beautiful setting where the Himalayas meet the Tibetan Plateau. THE INDIA LESS TRAVELED

This is Mysore Palace, home of the Wadiyar Rajas who ruled Mysore from 1399 to 1950. It is one of the many wonders of Southern India that’s far less known than traveler’s meccas up north like Agra and Rajasthan.

There’s the Nagarhole Tiger Sanctuary, more Asian elephants than anywhere else in the world, over 100 tigers, scores of leopards, their prey in profusion. Christian churches founded by Christ’s disciple St. Thomas in the 1st century AD. Towering Hindu temples covered with tens of thousands of eye-popping multi-colored sculptures. The gorgeous beaches of Goa, the serene peace of the Kerala Backwaters – “one of the most beautiful locations on earth” according to National Geographic, that you explore by luxury houseboat. It goes on and on.

PRINCESS RING ISLET

This is real, it actually exists as you see it. Princess Ring Islet is a small collapsed volcanic cone with a circular sunken crater. Talk about an awesome swimming hole. It’s several hundred yards off São Miguel Island in the Azores – and is just one of the many totally cool places we saw in our exploration of Atlantic Paradise.

At that time of year, the ocean around Princess Islet is filled with migrating whales and dolphins. The Azores are one of the world’s greatest whale-watching sites. You’d be very hard-pressed to find a cleaner, safer, more peaceful, more benign, and more astonishingly beautiful part of our planet than the Azores. And with more perfect weather.

The rest of the world and its craziness doesn’t exist here. Don’t you owe it to yourself and the one you love to escape here for at least a short time? Of course you do! (Glimpses of our breathtaking world #193)

THE POLISH SAVIOR OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION

On September 12, 1683, Ottoman Sultan Mehmet IV as the Caliph of all Islam was on the verge of realizing the great Moslem dream of conquering all of Christian Europe for the glory of Allah. The great obstacle in his way – the city of Vienna – was about to be overwhelmed by the Sultan’s gigantic army of 140,000 Islamic Taliban of their day.

On the Kahlenberg hilltop above Vienna, the commander of the Christian forces, King Jan III Sobieski of Poland, gave the order to attack. Twenty thousand armed horsemen galloped down the slopes of Kahlenberg, the largest cavalry charge in history, with the Polish King and his Winged Hussars in the lead. The cavalry trampled the Ottomans and made straight for their camps.

Ottoman commander Kara Mustafa fled out of his tent and barely escaped with his life (it didn’t last long – the Sultan ordered him strangled). With the Christian victory at The Battle of Vienna, the Moslem threat to Europe was over. Sobieski wrote a letter to Pope Innocent XI, paraphrasing Julius Caesar:

“Venimus, Vidimus, Deus vincit” – “We came, We saw, God conquered.”

In turn, the Pope hailed Sobieski as “The Savior of Western Christendom.” Indeed he was, and still is so revered by the Polish people to this day – with no apology.

For the people of Poland stand out among those of all Europe for their pride in being part of Western Civilization – symbolized for them by this statue of their Hero King trampling the Ottomans in the beautiful Royal Baths Park in Warsaw. They will make sure visitors to the statue note that underneath the right forearm of the fallen Turkish soldier is a book – the Koran.

You owe it to yourself to visit Poland and meet the Polish champions of Christian liberty, having freed themselves from the Ottomans, the Russians, and the Soviets. We need more like them today. (Glimpses of Our Breathtaking World #159 Photo ©Jack Wheeler)

The Global Order Confronts Reality

October 2026 is exposing the limits of a global order built on stable trade, reliable energy, and international institutions. Washington's confrontation with the International Criminal Court illustrates the growing conflict between national sovereignty and international authority.

The third anniversary of the October 7 massacre in Israel highlights the resurgence of traditional antisemitism alongside a newer ideological form rooted in radical Third-Worldism, which divides society into oppressors and oppressed.

When this thinking excuses political violence or collective persecution, it becomes a national security concern for all Americans, not simply Jews.

Meanwhile, wars in Ukraine and the Middle East are disrupting petroleum refining and diesel supplies, raising costs throughout the industrial economy. Russia's financial difficulties reveal the economic limits of prolonged warfare.

Trade tensions between the United States and Canada threaten established supply chains, while political realignment across Latin America reflects growing voter dissatisfaction with insecurity and economic mismanagement.

These disturbances reinforce one another. Like an industrial plant operating without adequate reserve capacity, the international system is losing its margin for error. Strategic inventories, diplomatic agreements, and political promises cannot substitute for productive capacity, competent leadership, and civic trust.

The lesson is simple. The world has not escaped the discipline of reality. Nations that confuse political intentions with material capabilities will eventually pay the price.

THE NEW RECONQUISTAS

As Rebel and I with a group of your fellow TTPers embark on our exploration of the Reconquista in Spain – Christianity’s greatest epic heroism, 40 generations of Spanish knights fighting to reconquer their land from Moslem invaders – this morning (10/05) a New Reconquista began in Spain by Christian patriots to liberate their land from their Communist leader and the 4 million African Moslems he imported to tyrannize them.

Yet that is only one of two continental tectonic shifts taking place in the last 24 hours. Last night (10/04), a New Reconquista was launched in Brazil to overthrow its Communist leader. Tectonic because the first will shift all of Europe to the right, ridding it of Islamic pestilence, while second will cement the entire continent of South America as Anti-Left, Pro-West, and Pro-America.

In Spain this morning, a man so criminally corrupt and so communist he can be regarded as truly evil – Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez – dissolved parliament and called for a snap new election on November 29. People are celebrating all over Spain for now they rid themselves of Sanchez. This in Madrid this afternoon:

In case you missed it, Elon Musk has some unfinished business with PayPal.

I have more than a passing interest in this. I worked for Peter Thiel when he was CEO of PayPal, before and after the IPO, until we both left after the merger with eBay.

We were an insurgency out to change the world, and we did.

We asked people to trust a bunch of kids in Silicon Valley — our average age was 23 — with their money. And they did. In the company’s first two and a half years, in fact, around 25 million of them did.

In the process, we enabled the creation of over two million small businesses, small firms that used us instead of a then-stupidly expensive credit card merchant account. Despite that, our fraud rate was just one-third of Visa’s and MasterCard’s.

But we had bigger ambitions than that, ambitions that weren’t fully achieved before the sale.

Coming off the Mexican and Argentine currency devaluations, Peter was particularly interested in giving normal people around the world a free or near-free offshore bank account to protect themselves from their own governments. Crypto has partially achieved that now; stablecoins will be even bigger. But none of that existed yet.
